  • Patent number: 10141456
Abstract: The invention disclosure describes a manufacturing method for realizing so-called JBS areas for a unipolar power diode on the basis of diamond. In this special method, an n-doped layer is applied to the typically p-doped drift region, e.g. by means of epitaxial layer growth. The applied n-doped layer is then removed again in defined areas. A photolithographic mask may be applied and the n-doped layer is removed by dry or wet chemical etching. Having structured the JBS areas, the Schottky metal is applied to the entire surface. The resulting JBS structure shields an electric field generated by an applied reverse voltage from the Schottky transition. The reverse voltage from which the Schottky transition is fully shielded can be adjusted by altering the distance between the JBS areas.

  • Patent number: 10067288
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a device for producing at least one fiber Bragg grating in a waveguide, wherein the waveguide has at least one core having a first refractive index and the fiber Bragg grating contains a plurality of spatial regions which each occupy a partial volume of the core and have a second refractive index, wherein the spatial regions are each produced by the action of laser radiation on a partial volume of the core, wherein the laser radiation contains a plurality of pulse trains each containing a plurality of individual pulses, wherein the time interval between successive individual pulses is smaller than the time interval between successive pulse trains and the time interval between successive individual pulses is chosen between 10 ns and 100 ps or the pulse train has a duration of 50 fs to 50 ps.

  • Patent number: 9753354
Abstract: An analog-digital converter has an optical input stage configured to convert an analog input signal (S(t)) into a phase-modulated optical signal and to supply it to a hybrid coupler having a plurality of output waveguides, each being connected to at least one photodiode. The photodiodes are each connected to the input of an associated analog-digital converter via which an analog electrical input signal is convertible into a digital output signal. An output stage is configured to form the digital data stream at the output from the digital output signals of the analog-digital converter, and the output stage may be configured to select the output signal of the analog-digital converter which lies within a predefinable range of the amplitude and has a predefinable slope and/or is larger than a predefinable adjacent output signal.
