    Abstract: An adjustable wheelchair includes a base frame having a first guide portion defining a first arcuate channel, and a seat frame having a second guide portion defining a second arcuate channel confronting the first arcuate channel. A first bearing assembly is secured to a front end of the first arcuate channel and extends into bearing engagement with the second arcuate channel. A rear bearing assembly is secured to a rear end of the second arcuate channel and extends into bearing engagement with the first arcuate channel. The seat frame is slideable in an arcuate path defined by the first and second arcuate channels for adjustment of a tilt angle of the seat frame with respect to the base frame.

The pivot fastener is secured through the first and second pivot apertures to pivotally attach the second joint member to the first joint member. The lock fastener is secured through a selected one of the at least one first lock aperture and a selected one of the at least one second lock aperture to secure the second joint member in a selected one of a plurality of angular positions with respect to the first joint member.

    Abstract: The present invention is a support arm mechanism that is simpler, more durable and more reliable in use than support arm mechanisms of the prior art. The invention also relates to an improved hinge that can be used in a trunk support arm mechanism, and in other applications. One embodiment of the present invention is a locking trunk support hinge that is convenient to lock and unlock. For example, the hinge can have a lock with a front hinge portion and a rear hinge portion. A locking member, having a locking head and an angled lever, is rotatably mounted to one of hinge portions, and a locking channel extends in the other one. The hinge has a locked mode in which the locking head is engaged in the locking channel and the hinge cannot be opened, and an unlocked mode in which the locking head is not engaged in the locking channel and the hinge can be swung open.

    Abstract: Broadly defined, the present invention is a wheelchair seat in which the back of the seat can recline relative to the bottom of the seat. In one particular embodiment, the angle of the back of the seat relative to the bottom portion of the seat can be adjusted at any angle within a particular range of angles. The wheelchair seat can have a locking mechanism that the user can engage to fix the relative angle between the bottom seat portion and the back seat portion into place once the angle is adjusted as desired.

    Abstract: A bracket to easily fasten detachable parts such as seats and backs to a wheelchair with J-shaped hooks or brackets that partially encircle the wheelchair frame tubes. A separate clamp assembly is more permanently clamped to the tube adjacent to each J-bracket. A swing arm pivoted on each clamp assembly is rotated into a position over the encircling portion of the J-bracket so as to both trap the bracket against the clamp and against the tube. Quick release and reattachment is achieved simply by rotating the swing arms off or on the J-hooks.
