  • Publication number: 20040006530
Abstract: A method, system and machine readable code for creating a lot having a plurality of items to be auctioned in an electronic auction based on common attributes of the items. An electronic database is provided containing a listing of items, including the items to be auctioned. Each item in the listing of items has at least one attribute and each attribute is common to a plurality of items in the listing of items. At least one attribute is identified where the attribute characterizes at least one of the items to be auctioned. The database is searched to compile an identified listing of items. Each item in the identified listing of items has the at least one identified attribute. Lastly, a lot listing is generated from the identified listing of items.

  • Publication number: 20030204465
Abstract: A method and system of evaluating values of different payment or delivery terms in online auctions, including obtaining an interest rate and a period from a buyer for a lot, the lot having a predetermined value, receiving a first bid from a first bidder and a second bid from a second bidder on the lot, the first and second bids each having a payment time and a rebate and transforming the first bid into a first value and the second bid into a second value using the interest rate, the period, and the predetermined value from the buyer, and the payment times and rebates from the first and second bidders.

  • Publication number: 20030115127
Abstract: A method of market basket bidding for surplus merchandise, including soliciting bids for a plurality of lots, each lot having a comparison value, receiving a plurality of bids on combinations of the lots from a plurality of buyers, at least one lot receiving bids from more than one buyer being an overlap portion, and awarding the overlap portion to a winning buyer, the winning buyer having submitted a bid on a combination that includes the overlap portion, wherein the bid submitted by the winning buyer has a parameter having a higher parameter value than other parameters calculated from bids from other buyers, the parameter being a percentage over a total comparison value for the combination.

  • Patent number: 6564192
Abstract: A method and system for conducting electronic online auctions between a plurality of potential bidders using differential index bidding is disclosed. The originator of the auction specifies one or more indexes as the basis for establishing a competitive price point. The index can be a published market index, or a proprietary price array developed by the buyer. The bidders specify bids as a percentage or absolute amount off of the one or more indexes. The originator of the auction compares the submitted bids and provides feedback to the bidders.

  • Patent number: 6499018
Abstract: A method and system for conducting electronic auctions is described. A dynamic lot closing extension feature avoids collisions in closing times of multiple lots by dynamically extending the closing time of a subsequent lot if a preceding lot's closing time is extended to be too close to the subsequent lot's then-currently scheduled closing time. Scheduled closing times can be extended with a flexible overtime feature, in which the properties of the event triggering the extension and the duration of the overtime period(s) can be tailored to a particular auction, particular lots of products within an auction, and to the particular time within an auction process. The bidding status of a lot can be set to a “pending” status after the nominal closing time for submission of bids to allow bidders to alert the auction coordinator of technical problems in submission of bids. This allows the possibility for a lot to be return to open status for further bidding by all bidders.

  • Publication number: 20020184042
Abstract: A method of creating a lot containing at least one of a plurality of transportation lanes is provided. In that method, each transportation lane includes on origination location and a destination location and each transportation lane has an associated transport cost. That method includes creating an origination area and a destination area, compiling all lanes having origination locations falling within the origination area and destination locations falling within the destination area, and increasing at least one of the origination area and the destination area of the lot to include more lanes within the lot until the total of the transport cost of all lanes included within the lot exceeds a predetermined amount. Another method of creating lots containing transportation lanes having at least a minimum number of carriers is also provided.

  • Publication number: 20020099643
Abstract: A method and system for conducting an auction having at least two competing bidders is disclosed. The method includes receiving bid data from at least one bidder and providing the bid data to a bidder that meets a condition for receiving the bid data. An apparatus for determining a suggested bid value that surpasses a selected bid is also disclosed. The apparatus includes a computer readable medium having stored thereon instructions which, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to provide a user selectable facility which, when selected establishes the value of the selected bid, calculates the suggested bid value by subtracting a predetermined minimum differential value from the selected bid value, and conveys the suggested bid value to the user.
