Abstract: A strap retainer comprising a flexible elongated member is formed in a partially closed loop. The elongated member may have an approximately straight segment near one end, and an L-shaped restraining member is positioned on the elongated member adjacent to the straight segment. The strap fastener has an un-locked, open position, and a locked, closed position, such that when in the locked, closed position the elongate member forms a closed loop. When a webbing strap passes through the strap fastener in its unlocked, open position, the strap may be placed between the L-shaped restraining member and the straight segment, whereby the L-shaped restraining member inhibits the strap from moving longitudinally along the elongate member.
