  • Patent number: 4955479
Abstract: A package comprising first, second and third flexible panels of light-blocking material secured together for holding light sensitive sheet materials therein, with one of the panels being arranged to be completely peeled away and separated from the other panels to provide access to the materials within the package. The package is arranged for insertion into a rigid container where the sheets can be removed for processing. The package comprises a lower panel, a first upper panel, and a second upper panel. Each of the panels is formed of a web of flexible, light-blocking, material, e.g., a laminate of polyester and polyethylene, one or both of which incorporating a light blocking agent. The lower panel has a leading edge, a trailing edge, and a pair of side edges. The first upper panel has a leading edge, a trailing edge, and a pair of side edges. The second upper panel has a leading edge, a trailing edge, and a pair of side edges.

  • Patent number: 4913561
Abstract: A gussetted flexible tubular package having a longitudinal axis and formed from flexible sheet material, e.g., plastic film. The package comprising a front and rear panel connected by respective side gusset folds. Each of the gusset folds comprises a central fold edge interposed between a pair of outer fold edges and defining therebetween respective gusset sections subadjacent the panels. The upper end of the package has an open mouth defined by upper end portions of the panels located between a pair of side seals. Each of the side seals comprises a longitudinally disposed seal and an angularly diverging seal. The longitudinally located seals each include one portion which seals the panels together contiguous with their respective central fold edges and another portion which seals the panels to their respective subadjacent gusset sections contiguous with the respective central fold edges.

  • Patent number: 4835037
Abstract: A roll of continuous laminated web product usable for forming a flexible package includes a first continuous flexible web formed of a gas barrier material adapted to form an inner bag of the package, and a second continuous flexible web adapted to form an outer bag of the package. The first and second webs are adhered together by adhesive bonds in the form of a discrete pattern of bonded areas which repeats in the machine-direction of the laminated web construction to define a plurality of sequentially disposed, dual walled sheets between such discrete patterns of bonded areas. Each of the discrete patterns of bonded areas includes discrete bonds which are spaced-apart from each other in the cross-machine-direction of the roll to define at least one passageway between the discrete bonds.

  • Patent number: 4727706
Abstract: A sealable package (20) in accordance with this invention includes an inner bag or container (24) located within an outer bag or container (26). The inner bag is formed of a flexible sheet (40) of material resistant to the passage of gas therethrough. The outer bag is formed of a flexible sheet (42) of material. The inner bag is secured to the outer bag along its top (32) and bottom (30) edges and along a vertically oriented back seam (52) by areas (44) of adhesive interposed therebetween. The adhesive areas define passageways (58) therebetween through which air from the ambient atmosphere may flow to enter into the space (28) between the two bags. The inner bag is arranged to be filled with some material (22) and then vacuumized and the top sealed closed.

  • Patent number: 4705174
Abstract: Containers formed of a flexible sheet of material capable of being sealed for closing off the interior of the container from the ambient atmosphere. The sheet material is resistant to tearing. The container comprises a mouth portion including a peel strip or layer fixedly secured to the inner surface of the container and extending substantially the entire length of the mouth portion, with adjacent portions of the peel strip or layer being in releaseable engagement with each other. The engagement forms an air-tight interfacial seal which is readily openable by peeling the engaging portions of the peel strip or layer from each other to provide ready access to the interior of the container without tearing the sheet material forming the container.

The container comprises a mouth portion including a peel strip or layer fixedly secured to the inner surface of the material and extending substantially the entire length of the mouth portion, with adjacent portions of the peel strip or layer being in releasable engagement with each other. Some containers are formed in accordance with the method for applying the peel strips transversely across a web of sheet material and heat sealing the strips to the material at longitudinally spaced locations and thereafter severing the web into sections which are formed into the container. Other containers are formed by use of a peel layer on the entire inner surface of the container.
