  • Patent number: 4957398
Abstract: The invention relates to a tool-spindle arrangement comprising a main spindle rotatably supported in a spindle housing and an electrical drive motor drivingly connected to the main spindle. The main spindle is constructed hollow to receive operating elements of the spindle arrangement. It is suggested that the motor shaft of the electrical drive motor itself is constructed as a main spindle. The main spindle is part of the drive motor. It is preferably constructed in two parts, namely, a spindle section and a motor-shaft section which, when connecting the drive motor to the machine, are coupled with one another. The motor-shaft section is also constructed hollow to receive operating elements, for example clamping members for chucking of the tool, air-blast pipes, cooling-medium pipes, etc.

  • Patent number: 4884481
Abstract: In a device for facilitating the radial adjustment of a cutting edge member of a boring and turning tool with a rotatable adjusting ring (18) arranged on the outside of a tool-carrier housing, an extendible and retractable locking ram (42) can be extended from the spindle housing (7) of the machine tool, which locking ram in an extended position allows the adjusting ring to be movable to cause a radial adjustment of the cutting edge member and in a retracted position causing the adjusting ring (18) to be fixed with respect to the tool-carrier housing and the machine tool spindle (4) so that no radial adjustment is possible. The device can be automated, since the locking ram (42) can be controlled by a general machine control.

  • Patent number: 4674908
Abstract: We are dealing with a mechanism for clamping a second machine part 4 which is supported movably with respect to a first machine part 2. A clamping bar 28, which extends in the direction of movement is arranged on the second machine part 4, on which clamping bar can be clamped a clamping member 32 which is supported freely movably in directions transverse to the direction of movement of the first machine part, but otherwise clearance free. Since the clamping member 22 is as a whole freely movable in directions transverse to the direction of movement, no reactive forces whatsoever are created in the direction of movement during the clamping operation. The inventive clamping mechanism is preferably used in feed-movable spindle sleeves (tail spindles) in order to assure a secure clamping in an axial direction and in a peripheral direction, without producing forces which act transversely to the spindle axis.

  • Patent number: 4645173
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for clamping of a machine table or a pallet on a machine bed or frame, whereby the machine table rests at several bearing points on support pins or the like which are arranged on the machine frame. The clamping force is applied by one single, central clamping device, which engages approximately in the center of a plate, which in turn is coupled in the area of the bearing points on the underside of the machine table. The plate serves to transmit the centrally applied tensioning force into the area of the support of the machine table in order to avoid bending or distortion to the machine table.

  • Patent number: 4637120
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for changing of tools into the work spindle of a machine tool. It includes a two-arm changing arm, the axis of rotation of which is positioned at an angle of 45.degree. with respect to the work spindle, and the gripping ends of which are angled each at 45.degree. toward the axis of rotation. The tools are inserted into the changing arm with the ends, which are to be inserted into the spindle, pointing away from the axis of rotation, so that, in particular when using long tools, a smaller flight circle and thus a smaller collision free space, which is to be kept free, results. Therefore, the device is particularly suited for machine tools with two spindles. The entire changing arm with its support, which permits the change rotation and the pulling out and inserting movement of the tool out of and into the spindles, is pivotal about an axis which extends perpendicularly with respect to the plane which is defined by the spindles.

  • Patent number: 4440050
Abstract: Drive mechanism for a feed screw or threaded spindle for tool machines. The threaded spindle is drivable both by a drive motor and also by a handwheel which can be coupled by an axial shifting movement of a control rod. The drive connection between the drive motor and the threaded spindle is released through an axial movement of the handwheel, so that the output shaft on the motor on the one hand is not moved in response to a rotational movement of the handwheel and, on the other hand, cannot drive the threaded spindle in the case of an unintended start.

  • Patent number: 4288192
Abstract: A tool-changing mechanism for machine tools of the kind in which tools can be inserted into a spindle. A tool magazine receives several tools and a double-ended tool-changing arm is provided on each of its two ends with gripping mechanisms. The tool-changing arm is rotatable about an axis of rotation which is parallel to the spindle axis and the tool-changing arm can be moved along the direction of its axis of rotation. The tool-changing arm can also be pivoted, between a working position and a rest position, about a pivot axis which is parallel to its axis of rotation.

  • Patent number: 4228694
Abstract: A shifting device for a multi-shaft sliding gear arrangement having a plurality of sliding gear blocks displaceable in an axial direction, each one of which is connected, by way of a mechanical transmission device, to a separate electric servo-drive. Each servo-drive comprises an electric servo-motor equipped with a gear reduction unit and a planar cam drive which is arranged between the servo-motor and the transmission device and has a pivotal output lever. The output lever is connected to a sliding gear block at an end remote from the pivotal support therefor. The two end positions of movement of the output lever correspond to the end positions of the sliding gear block.

  • Patent number: 4050354
Abstract: A machine tool equipped with a magazine and a guide drum which is disposed alongside the magazine. A tracer is mounted on the guide drum and is movable in a three coordinate system and the magazine contains tools which are also movable in a three coordinate system and in a direct ratio to the movement of the tracer. The tracer, which is attached to the guide drum, follows the profile or contour of a master or pattern and the compound motion is transmitted to the magazine containing the tools. Therefore, the tools are moved in the same way as the tracer so that the master or pattern is thus reproduced.
