Patents Assigned to Fritz Gegauf AG Bernina-Nahmaschinenfabrik
  • Patent number: 6655305
Abstract: An apparatus for embroidering surface-shaped sewing material includes an embroidery device which is connected, via an intermediate insertion of a distance adapter, to the column or free arm of a sewing machine. By inserting the distance adapter between the embroidery device and the sewing machine the distance between the embroidery device and the free arm or the column of the sewing machine is increased, which makes it possible to use an embroidery frame having a cross-sectional surface which is significantly greater than an embroidery frame which is able to be used if there was simply a direct connection between the embroidery device and the free arm or column of the sewing machine.

  • Patent number: 6055919
Abstract: A spool capsule for a sewing machine for receiving a lower thread spool, having a concentrically disposed bore for mounting the spool capsule on a spool carrier pin, with a spring, serving as a locking device for axially retaining the spool capsule on the spool carrier pin, being inserted into a spool receiving space of the spool capsule. A section of the spring is constructed so that it is elastically displaceable radially, relative to the concentrically disposed bore, penetrating the bore in a manner analogous to a tendon. The locking device includes only a single movable element, which serves for both arresting the spool capsule on the pin of the spool and as an actuating device. This single element includes a spring, which is retained in a centrally-extending groove in a deepening of the spool capsule, and projects outwardly, at one point, through an opening in the surface of the spool capsule.

  • Patent number: 5899153
Abstract: An electronic sewing machine is equipped with interfaces (6, 7, 8, 9) by which additional stitch or stitch pattern data can be introduced into a changeable memory of the sewing machine. This conception makes possible that the user of the sewing machine is able to store afterwards, i.e. after having acquired the sewing machine, a selection of preferred stitch types or stitch patterns according to individual wishes, and then to fetch such data without need for any external auxiliary means.

  • Patent number: 5588938
Abstract: An extension arm (11) can be fixed to a column (2) at any height and with different inclinations. A foot holder (15, 16) is displaceably mounted on the extension arm and can be moved against the force of a traction cable (8) over the extension arm (11). A loading unit (4) programmable by means of an operating device (21) for selecting the load characteristics acts upon the traction cable. Alternatively, another extension arm for arm training can be mounted. Thus, different training varieties can be selected without the need of adjusting any weights or mechanisms. Different extension arms (11) may be provided which allow the adaptation of the apparatus to different training modes, such as leg, arm or body training.

  • Patent number: 5303665
Abstract: An electro-optical display serves for the display of basic types of stitch patterns or individual stitch patterns, e.g. zig-zag sewing, buttonholing, alphanumeric characters and the like. A cursor 13 can be moved to the displayed stitch pattern groups by means of a control device, and a menu comprising different stitch patterns of the selected stitch pattern group can then be selected and displayed by pressing an OK button. The particular desired stitch pattern group or the stitch pattern can then be selected from this menu or another menu which is displayed when an advance command is given. This hierarchical, stepwise display and selection of a determined stitch pattern group or an individual stitch pattern substantially simplifies and accelerates the selection from a great number of available stitch types or patterns.

  • Patent number: 4813363
Abstract: An overlock sewing machine wherein a thread which breaks between the shuttle and the looping discs is allowed to bypass the loop stripping device and is advanced by the discs toward and against the cutting edge of a knife provided on one leg of the U-shaped thread guide which confines the looping discs. This prevents the discs from convoluting the broken thread onto the shaft which drives the discs.

  • Patent number: 4722339
Abstract: The instrument has projections with locking teeth for locking the instrument in its closed clamping position, said projections being located near the connecting zone between the levers of the instrument and their ring grips. Near one projection a slide having a wedge surface is provided, which may be shifted between the projections against spring force by pressure onto a key of the slide, for spreading appart the projections and for disengaging their locking teeth. Disengagement of the locking teeth and opening of the closed instrument are substantially facilitated by simple and inexpensive means which do not hinder operation of the instrument.

  • Patent number: 4643112
Abstract: One limb of each loop which is formed by the needle thread in an oscillating hook type sewing machine is temporarily in contact with the loop-engaging member of a braking device whose torsion spring is non-rotatably installed in the hollow mandrel of the hook. The loop-engaging member is turned by successive loops from a starting position, relative to the hook and against the opposition of the spring so that it tensions the loop while the latter is raised by the takeup lever. The spring thereupon rapidly returns the loop-engaging member to its starting position. The loop-engaging member is integral with a loop catcher which intercepts the loop when the latter is cast off the hook and which ensures that the loop comes in contact with the loop-engaging member.

  • Patent number: 4643116
Abstract: A sewing machine presser foot with a shank and a sole plate wherein the shank carries at its lower end a spherical portion extending into a complementary socket of the sole plate so that the latter is free to swivel about several intersecting axes which pass through the center of the spherical portion. A U-shaped spring couples the sole plate to the shank and limits the extent of movability of the sole plate with reference to the shank, either alone or by cooperating with two transversely extending stubs which are provided on the shank at the opposite sides of the spherical portion and extend, with freedom of vertical movement, into slots which are machined into two lateral walls of the sole plate.

  • Patent number: 4586448
Abstract: A foot control of the sewing machine can be actuated from a neutral position in two directions. In one case, a variable resistance becomes effective which produces regulating voltages within a determined range. A logic circuit with comparators produces for this voltage range a condition in which the driving motor of the sewing machine is controlled to operate with a number of turns corresponding to the voltage range. When the machine is stopped the needle is automatically positioned in its upper stop position. By repetitive actuation backward of the foot pedal the needle may be positioned in its bottom stop position and again in its upper stop position and so on. The logic treatment of the control signals from the foot control permits to transmit these signals for all required instructions through a two wire cable which is already required for the speed control.
