Abstract: A drive unit for a strapping device strapping an item to be packed with a plastic tape which is laid around it includes a motorized tensioning device and a motorized welding device for the plastic tape. The tensioning and welding device can be driven by the same electric motor which can be brought alternatively into an operative connection with the devices with freewheels connected therebetween. A problem has occurred in drive units of this type that they are relatively complicated to assembly and have problematic operational reliability under certain boundary conditions. To bypass these problems, the electric motor includes at least one shell extension which protrudes beyond it at one axial end with the result that the drive elements which have up to now been mounted separately in the housing of a strapping device can be supported directly on the electric motor which then acts as a drive unit.

Abstract: A pneumatically actuated strapping apparatus for strapping plastic tape around a packaging item including a motorized tensioning device and a motorized welding device for the plastic tape. The tensioning device and the welding device are driven by the same pneumatic motor. The direction of rotation of the pneumatic motor can be inverted. The pneumatic motor is connected to the devices by two freewheeling mechanisms releasing the devices in opposite directions. In order to keep power consumption for evacuating non-operational air low, in a particularly preferred embodiment, switching valves which automatically discharge the nonoperational air to the exterior are integrated into the air intake ducts that are used as evacuation ducts for the non-operational air when the direction of rotation is inverted.

Abstract: A strapping apparatus for strapping a tensioning strap around a packaging item includes a frictional wheel that operates against a support to tighten the tensioning strap. The frictional wheel is operatively connected to a drive unit and can be lifted from the support by a swiveling lever. The swiveling lever includes an interrupting element to interrupt the path of action between the frictional wheel and the drive unit so as to be able to lift the frictional wheel in an unloaded state from the tensioning strap.

Abstract: A hoop-casing device comprising means for stretching a strip and for friction welding two overlapping ribbon parts between two welding cheeks (2,3). Each means is assigned a motor, a switch (4,5) for control by a control circuit, and a cam (6,7) to actuate said switch. Both cams (6,7) are pivotally mounted on a corresponding shaft part (10,32) around a common axis of rotation in an adjustable relative rotating position. One of the welding cheeks (2) can be orthogonally adjusted in relation to the axis of rotation (8) by means of a cam gear. The cam gear has a cam disk which can rotate along with one of the cams (6) around an axis (8) in addition to a telescopic tappet which is functionally arranged between the cam disk and the welding cheek (2). A receiving slot for receiving overlapping band sections is provided between the base plate and the housing. A band tightening device serves to tighten the overlapping band sections.
