    Abstract: A Surface-affixed, Storm-Resistant Containment Unit involves a shelter structure, with internally-mounted photovoltaic solar panels, and movable doors which may be ‘closed’ to protect the photovoltaic solar panels from storm-related damage, e.g. hail, extreme wind and airborne debris. When weather conditions improve, the movable doors may be ‘opened’, allowing sunlight to strike the undamaged photovoltaic solar panels, and renewable energy production to resume. These Storm-Resistant Containment Units may be installed, and electrically connected in multiples to comprise a storm-resistant, commercially-sized, renewable power generating station (or ‘Micro-Grid’) for use in geographic areas prone to severe storms and hurricanes. Such storm-resistant, commercially-sized, power generation station may be advantageously applied at existing ‘Brown-Field’ industrial sites that have existing, unused electrical-grid infrastructure.

The system can be deployed onto a large, relatively flat land area, e.g., unprepared or prepared land surfaces, where the solar panel chain(s) can be extended out and secured by various attachment methods which may include external tracks, cable or bracket attachment systems. Wind turbines on the housings can be raised or tipped up for collection of wind-generated energy. The captured energy is stored in a bank of housed storage batteries and can be delivered to the local electric grid, used for electric vehicle charging stations or provided for primary or back-up power to critical infrastructure.

The power generation station may include air displacement tubes that have a lower end immersed in water, and which feed into a plenum where check valves direct air unidirectionally to an air turbine that powers an electric generator. Air turbines or wind turbines on the barge can be raised or tipped up for collection of wind energy. The captured energy is stored on a bank of on-board storage batteries. Energy can be collected and stored, and the barge can be brought to shore when and where needed. This arrangement can be configured for ground-based deployment. The power generation station can be configured for use on dry land.
