    Abstract: An ink ribbon for thermal transfer printer comprising a foundation and a thermal transfer layer, said thermal transfer layer comprising a colored layer containing a wax-like substance as a main component of the vehicle thereof, and a thermoplastic adhesive layer having a film-forming property provided on the surface of the colored layer, said thermoplastic adhesive layer having a melt viscosity of 1.times.10.sup.4 to 5.times.10.sup.6 cP at a temperature by 40.degree. C. higher than the softening temperature of the adhesive layer, a softening temperature of 45.degree. to 90.degree. C., a solidifying temperature of 25.degree. to 65.degree. C. and a temperature difference of at least 10.degree. C. between said softening temperature and said solidifying temperature. The thermal transfer ink ribbon provides clear images not only on a smooth paper but also on a rough paper even in a high-speed printing or even on printers with different peeling conditions.

    Abstract: A transfer tape for masking correction comprising a film-like foundation and a pressure-transferable masking layer containing a coloring pigment provided on the foundation, said pressure-transferable masking layer comprising a hiding layer comprising a coloring pigment and a vehicle, and a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer provided on the surface of the hiding layer, said vehicle of said hiding layer having an elongation at break of not less than 3.5.times.10.sup.2 %, said hiding layer having a porous structure with a porosity of 30 to 50% and having a tensile strength of not more than 1.7.times.10.sup.2 g/mm.sup.2. Masking operation using the transfer tape can be conducted with ease, erroneous images on a paper can be completely hidden and clear images can be formed on the masked portion.

    Abstract: A multi-usable heat transfer ink ribbon comprising a foundation, and a heat transfer ink layer provided on one surface of the foundation, said heat transfer ink layer having a melt index of 4.times.10.sup.2 to 2.5.times.10.sup.3 g/10 min. at 190.degree. C. and containing a vehicle and 3.times.10 to 6.times.10% by volume of a nonthermoplastic powder dispersed in a nonagglomerative state, wherein said heat transfer ink layer is capable of being melted or softened to be transferred to a receiving medium in increments relative to the thickness direction of the ink layer upon heating by means of a heating head. The multi-usable heat transfer ink ribbon, though the whole of the ink layer is transferable by incorporating into the ink layer no nontransferable material which hinders the transfer of the ink, can give printed images having the same clearness as that of the printed image obtained by the initial printing even after the ribbon is repeatedly used multiple times for printing.

    Abstract: A recording medium for electrothermal transfer printing comprising a base film, an adhesiveness improving layer provided on one surface of the base film, an electrically resistive layer provided on the adhesiveness improving layer, and a heat-sensitive transfer ink layer provided on the other surface of the base film, said electrically resistive layer comprising a binder comprising a polyvinyl butyral resin as a main component, an electrically conductive powder and an inorganic metallic compound type flame retardant. The content of an electrically conductive powder such as a conductive carbon in the resistive layer can be increased to reduce the electric resistance of the resistive layer and problems such as peeling of the resistive layer can be prevented, and a satisfactory flame resistance can be obtained without increasing the resistivity of the resistive layer. Thus, the electrothermal transfer printing can be conducted satisfactorily without any dangerousness.

The production of the indication element can be automatized due to the formation of an image by means of a thermal printer.
