    Abstract: An expansion valve comprises an orifice 30 formed in a valve body 10 and a valve member 9 fixed to a movable member 18. Movement of a diaphragm 4 is transmitted to an actuating rod 17 via a member 16, and the actuating rod 17 actuated the movable member 18 to control the opening amount of the path between the valve member 9 and the orifice 30. An orifice member 100 affixed to the orifice 30 is made of a material harder than the valve body 10, and free from erosion or other damage by a refrigerant, which will otherwise occur at the valve opening portion.

Refrigerant returning from the evaporator transmits the temperature of refrigerant to a heat sensing shaft connecting to a power element portion 36 while traveling through a passage 34. A cover 200 has a head portion 220 and a tapered portion 210, and is mounted to the top portion of the valve body 110. Tapered outer surfaces 212 of the tapered portion of the cover 200 and tapered surfaces 114 of the valve body 110 form approximately identical surfaces. A concave portion 221 of the head portion 220 covers the power element portion 36, and its peak portion forms a curved surface 222.

Thus the amount of the liquid in contact with the large-radial blades 320 above the disk 350 decreases, and the load to the rotary vane decreases. At the same time, bubbles, noise and vibrations caused by bubbles also decrease. By surrounding the outer circumference of the large-radial blades 320 with a ring member, return water W5 moving back from the outlet 17 when the pump stops is damped by the wall member 360 and returns smoothly to the inlet 15.

    Abstract: A receiver drier includes a case having one open end and a closed end, and a cover member fixed to the open end of the case by welding to close the open end. A liquid refrigerant suction pipe is arranged in an inner space of the case and extends from a position which is located near to the open end of the case toward an inner portion of the case. A liquid refrigerant inlet hole for introducing a refrigerant into the inner space of the case, a liquid refrigerant outlet hole for leading the refrigerant from the suction pipe to an out of the case, and a connecting passage for connecting the refrigerant outlet hole with one end of the suction pipe which is located near to the opening end of the case are provided in the cover member. The cover member is thinned with at least a portion thereof corresponding to the connecting passage being remaining.

    Abstract: An expansion valve used in an air conditioner having a passage for a liquid-phase refrigerant sent from a reservoir to a valve body, and a passage for a vapor-phase refrigerant after passing an evaporator 8. The refrigerant passage includes a valve chamber to control the amount of the refrigerant passing through the valve by means of a member configured to engage with a valve seat. The valve member is operated by a valve driving rod which can move in the axial direction in response to the temperature and pressure of the vapor-phase refrigerant. An orifice is interposed between a liquid-phase refrigerant inlet port and the valve chamber to decrease that bubbles contained in the refrigerant entering into the valve chamber by means of its throttling hole. Also the passage from the valve chamber to the valve seat is tapered to prevent collapse of bubbles.

    Abstract: A pressure sensor comprises a pressure-sensitive coupler body 2 having one end provided with a diaphragm 8 and strain gage 9 stacked together, an intermediate body 3 containing a printed board 21 and encircling the strain gate 9, and a signal-detective coupler body 4 opposed to the pressure-sensitive coupler body 2 via the intermediate body 3 to define a closed chamber in the intermediate body 3. The printed board 21 and the strain gage 9 are electrically connected by terminal elements 13 extended from the strain gage 9 into slidable contact with conductive elements 25 attached to an edge of the printed board 21. Vibrations or impulses produced in the diaphragm 8 are therefore absorbed by a relative displacement between the terminal elements 13 and the conductive elements 25 to protect the printed board 21 against such vibrations or impulses.

    Abstract: In a control method for a refrigeration system having a compressor, a condenser, a thermostatic expansion valve, and an evaporator, the amount of a refrigerant flowing into the evaporator is increased at a temperature lower than a predetermined evaporating temperature by a thermostatic expansion valve which opens even if the evaporating temperature is lower than the predetermined level and a superheat signal is lower than zero. In a thermostatic expansion valve best suited for the above method, either a gas adsorbent and at least two working fluids, different in a temperature-induced change of the amount of adsorption to the gas adsorbent, or a first working fluid, whose saturated vapor pressure is lower than the superheated vapor pressure of the refrigerant at the outlet of the evaporator, and a second working fluid, incapable of being liquefied within the range of the evaporating temperature of the refrigerant, are sealed in the thermo-tube.
