  • Patent number: 8035759
Abstract: Polarizing split layers 26 and reflection layers 27 are provided on bonding surfaces between prism rods 24a and 24b. Polarization conversion devices 25 are bonded to an emission surface from which linearly polarized light being reflected by the polarizing split layers 26 and reflected by the reflection layer 27 are emitted. The polarization conversion devices 25 are formed by bonding plural prism rods 30 with side surfaces being inclined by 45° with respect to an incidence surface. Retardation films formed of dielectric multilayers are provided between the bonding surfaces to give a phase difference of a ½wavelength to transmitted light. The retardation films and bonding borderlines 31 are inclined by 45° within a plane perpendicular to an optical axis of linearly polarized light so that an optical axis of the retardation film has an angle of 45° with respect to a polarization direction of the linearly polarized light.

  • Patent number: 8031288
Abstract: A prism sheet is bonded to the bottom faces of rectangular prisms constituting a polarization beam splitter array. In the front face of the prism sheet, a plurality of rectangular prism elements are arranged in parallel to each other and a phase difference compensation film is formed on the surface. The edge lines of the rectangular prism elements are inclined at 45 degrees relative to the edge lines of the rectangular prisms. Linear polarized light of S-polarization component reflected by a polarized light separation film is reflected twice sequentially in a phase difference compensation film formed in a pair of oblique faces of the rectangular prism elements, so that the polarization direction is rotated by 90 degrees and then the light reenters the rectangular prism. Then, the light is transmitted through the polarized light separation film and then extracted from the rectangular prism.

  • Patent number: 8023189
Abstract: Two types of layers are simultaneously formed on a substrate and another substrate under the same layer forming condition, the heights of which are equal to a half height of an intended retardation compensation layer. Physical properties of the respective two types of layers formed on the substrates are identical to each other, and if deviations are produced in retardation distribution characteristics for azimuth angles of incident light, these deviations are commonly provided in the respective two types of layers. When one substrate is superposed with the other substrate and these superposed substrates are integrated with each other in order to make a single sheet of retardation compensation element, after one of these substrates is rotated by an angle of 90 degrees with respect to the other substrate, these substrates are stuck to each other by an adhesive agent.

  • Patent number: 7999845
Abstract: In an electronic endoscope system, an RF signal is produced through quadrature modulation of a picture signal that is representative of an image taken through an electronic endoscope. When control signals are entered by an operator through a control section of the electronic endoscope, a data superimposing section superimposes the entered control signals on the RF signal in horizontal scanning intervals within a vertical blanking interval. The RF signal having the control signals superimposed thereon is sent as an electric wave of a single frequency band to a processor. In the processor, a data analyzer carries out sampling to extract the entered control signals if they are superimposed on the picture signal, and analyzes the contents of the entered control signals. Based on the results of analysis, a CPU controls respective components of the signal processor.
