Abstract: The present invention relates to the method of measuring a biological ligand (1) in a sample containing an amylase (1) derived from a higher animal. This method is characterized by employing a combination of an amylase (2) not contained in the sample and an antibody against the ligand (1) or a ligand (2) capable of reacting with the antibody and an amylase inhibitor of which inhibitory activity against the amylase (1) is stronger than that against the amylase (2). The method of the invention utilizes the emphasis of steric hindrance of the amylase (2) reaction which is carried out at the boundary between solid phase and liquid phase and the specific removal of the influence of the amylase (1) by using the above amylase inhibitor. This method is suitable as a clinical test for the determination of physiological substances and trace components in a humoral fluid such as serum.
Abstract: A method of measuring an infectious disease antibody such as syphilis IgM, which comprises treating immunoglobulins of a sample with an anti immunoglobulin antibody sensitized on carrier particles and an antigen of the infectious disease sensitized on carrier particles. According to the method of the invention, the specific antibody of the specific infectious disease such as syphilis IgM can easily and exactly be measured. This method is useful for the judging the stage of infectious disease and watching the results of treatment.
Abstract: A method is provided which is highly sensitive and specific, and is suitable as a clinical test for the determination of physiological substances and trace components in humoral fluid. The method employs a conjugate of an enzyme capable of acting on a water-insoluble macromolecular substance and an antibody against the ligand (1) to be measured or a ligand (2) having an antigenic determinant common to one of the antigenic determinant(s) of the ligand (1). In the method of the invention, steric hindrance of the conjugate is emphasized by the enzyme reaction which is carried out at the boundary between solid phase and liquid phase.
Abstract: 1,4-dihydropyridine derivatives represented by the following general formula, ##STR1## in which R.sup.3 is a combination of an unsaturated straight chain hydrocarbon group or derivative thereof connected by a single bond with an unsaturated hydrocarbon group or derivative thereof so that the unsaturated carbon atoms of the two groups are in conjugated relationship. These compounds have a hypotensive action the effective time of which is long, which makes the blood pressure descend slowly, and the toxicity of which is low.

Abstract: A method of measuring a biological ligand comprises allowing to coexist a biologically active composition comprising an immobilization phase of a particular antibody or a particular ligand and an immobilization phase of a biotinyl enzyme or a biotinyl enzyme inhibitor, a water-soluble conjugate of the ligand or the antibody and the biotinyl enzyme inhibitor or the biotinyl enzyme, and the ligand to be measured in an aqueous solution, and measuring the remaining biotinyl enzyme activity or the biotinyl enzyme inhibitory activity. This method is highly sensitive and specific, and it is suitable as a clinical test for the determination of physiological substances and trace components in humoral fluid.
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and novel reagents for detecting a ligand in a biological sample. In the method, the sample is combined with (i) an enzyme or an enzyme bound to a first macromolecular compound, (ii) substrate for the enzyme, and (iii) an antibody complex comprising anti-ligand bound to anti-enzyme and a second macromolecular compound bound to either one or both of the anti-ligand and anti-enzyme. The activity of the enzyme varies as a function of the unknown amount of ligand contained in the biological sample.
Abstract: A magnetic particulate comprising gelatin, water-soluble polysaccharide, sodium polymetaphosphate and ferromagnetic substance, which is used as a carrier for immobilization of biological proteins such as antigens, antibodies or enzymes, and a process of producing the magnetic particulate.
Abstract: A biologically active composition comprising an immobilized phase comprising an antigen or an antibody, and an immobilized phase comprising an enzyme, an enzyme inhibitor or activator, and a method of measuring antigen or antibody using the same. According to the method of the invention, antigen with antibody can be detected in a simple procedure and high sensitivity.
Abstract: This method of measuring membrane fusions between liposomes made of phospholipid is characterized by the combination of ionophores, fluorescent dyes sensitive to the membrane potential (interior negative) and porins which are the pore-forming membrane proteins. By this method, the extent of liposome fusion can be determined easily and accurately.
