  • Patent number: 6152628
Abstract: A sheet supply apparatus adapted for use with a recording apparatus such as a printer. The sheet supply apparatus comprises a frame having a sheet conveying surface, a shaft rotatably arranged above the sheet conveying surface, and a plurality of protrusions arranged on the shaft in the axially spaced relationship and at circumferentially different angles. The sheet is conveyed toward a horizontal member (such as conveying rollers in a printer) extending in the direction perpendicular to the sheet conveying direction along the sheet conveying surface by the protrusions so as to cause the sheet to abut against the transverse member. Oblique feeding of a sheet is thus corrected.

  • Patent number: 6135384
Abstract: A device has a pivoted lever for detecting a near end state of a roll of paper, and the lever is held at a first position by the weight of a roll of paper, but is resiliently biased toward a second position by a spring. When the roll of paper does not have a core, and when the weight thereof falls to a predetermined value, the lever is moved from the first position to the second position due to a resilient force of the spring. When the roll of paper has a core, and when a diameter thereof is reduced to a predetermined value, the lever receives the roll of paper in a recess formed therein, and is moved from the first position to the second position due to a resilient force of the spring. When the lever is moved to the second position, this is detected by a suitable detecting element. Thus, the detector can detect the near end state of the roll of paper without regard to whether the roll of paper has a core or not.

  • Patent number: 5822504
Abstract: Font packing device and font unpacking device aims at storing a bit map font at a high packing ratio, and processing and unpacking the packed data with a simple hardware configuration at a high speed. Bit map data of each character is equally divided into a plurality of blocks. If the plural blocks share the same bit map data, then the bit map data is stored for only one block collectively. At this time, addresses indicating the storage area of the shared bit map data for the other blocks are stored. If a bit map data is used for one block only and not shared with any other blocks, then the data is stored with an address indicating the storage area.
