  • Patent number: 6810820
Abstract: A workstation table includes at least two horizontally oriented spaced worksurface struts which allow a work platform to be placed atop the worksurface struts to extend between them. Leg struts having adjustable length extend downwardly from the workstation struts, and a crank link extending between the leg struts can be rotated to adjust the length of both of the leg struts simultaneously. Base struts extend from the ends of the leg struts opposite the worksurface struts to better support the base struts. Stabilizer struts, which also preferably have adjustable length, extend between the opposing base struts and/or between the opposing leg struts to help maintain them in spaced relation. The various struts are made of tubing and are affixed together with strut clamps formed of clamp shells, with each clamp shell being shaped to complementarily fit about portions of adjoining struts in such a manner that the clamp shells may be affixed about the adjoining portions to attach them together.

  • Patent number: 6543260
Abstract: A coupler lock for securing a device within a sleeve of a vehicle hitch to prevent unauthorized removal of the device which can include a hitch ball insert, a cargo platform, bike carrier or similar accessory designed to be attached to the vehicle. The coupler lock includes a lock housing removably attached to one end of a lock bar configured to pass through apertures within the hitch sleeve and insert. The lock housing has a plurality of ball bearings radially movable in and out of an annular groove to lock and release the bar. A locking cup longitudinally movable within the lock housing in response to movement of the lock cylinder retains the bearings within the groove or releases the bearings from removal of the lock bar from the lock housing.

  • Patent number: 6505849
Abstract: The ball clamp coupler includes a coupler housing wherein a coupler socket is defined, with the coupler socket having a bottom socket opening to allow insertion of a hitch ball. A rear wall is also defined within the coupler housing interior adjacent the coupler socket. A ball clamp moves within the interior of the coupler housing between an open (uncoupled) state wherein the ball clamp is substantially removed from the coupler socket, and a closed (coupled) state wherein the ball clamp is substantially inserted within the coupler socket. During such motion, the ball clamp is guided against the rear wall, whereby engagement of the hitch ball will situate the ball clamp between the hitch ball and the rear wall. The ball clamp is driven by a clamp driving member which extends from the interior of the coupler housing to its exterior.

  • Patent number: 6446937
Abstract: A jack assembly for raising and lowering an object such as a trailer. The jack includes telescoping jack tubes which are expanded and contracted through operation of an axial screw. The screw is drivably connected to a gear drive mounted in an upper end of the jack. A crankshaft is supported within the upper end of the jack tube by a pair of end bushings and includes a hexagonal intermediate portion. A first pinion gear having a hexagonal throughbore is drivably mounted to the intermediate portion of the crankshaft. The first gear is in driving engagement with a screw gear connected to the axial screw. At least one of the end bushings is removable to facilitate disassembly of the gear drive. Rotation of the crank transmits rotation to the crankshaft and the first pinion gear in turn transmitting rotation to the screw gear and the axial screw for telescoping movement of the jack.

  • Patent number: 6431525
Abstract: A winch mechanism that is capable of sustained, heavy load operation comprises a frame, a ratchet, and a pawl for cooperative engagement with a pinion and a drum gear. The frame includes a plurality of apertures positioned proximate to the pawl axle, one aperture for each mode of operation of the winch mechanism. Pawl position relative to the pinion is defined by the position of a ratchet plug and the apertures in the frame. The winch mechanism includes a forward-engaged mode, a reverse-engaged mode, and a free-spooling mode. A wave washer urges the ratchet plug into one of the apertures once the ratchet mode is determined.

  • Patent number: 6352279
Abstract: A ball clamp trailer coupler for engaging a standard vehicle hitch ball includes a coupler housing wherein a forward coupler socket is defined, and a ball clamp which is movably situated within the coupler housing rearwardly of the coupler socket. The clamp has a clamping face which faces the coupler socket, and the clamping face slopes downwardly as it extends forwardly to conclude at a frontwardly-protruding lower clamping face edge. The clamp also includes a ramp face which slopes downwardly and rearwardly from the lower clamping face edge. When the coupler is lowered onto a hitch ball with the coupler located too far forwardly, i.e., so that the hitch ball is situated beneath the clamp, the hitch ball will contact the ramp face to push the clamp rearwardly out of the coupler socket rather than into the coupler socket (as will occur where the ramp face is not present).

  • Patent number: 6302381
Abstract: The swivel jack assembly is used with trailers to vertically position a trailer tongue for mounting onto a hitch of the towing vehicle. The swivel jack assembly includes a jack-mounting bracket welded to an outer housing of the jack, and a tongue-mounting bracket mounted onto the tongue portion of a trailer. The jack also includes a novel swivel mechanism for pivoting the mechanism in either an upright support position or a horizontal stowed position. A cup-shaped section of the jack-mounting bracket nests within a cup-shaped section of the tongue-mounting bracket. When in the upright position, the jack extends vertically and may be used to raise or lower the tongue and support the trailer. The swivel jack assembly keeps the trailer in a level position when the trailer is disengaged from the towing vehicle. The swivel jack assembly is pivotally mounted onto the trailer tongue such that they can be pivotally repositioned to a stowed position when not in use.

  • Patent number: 6267357
Abstract: This document describes a drop foot jack, also known as a vehicle landing gear or landing gear jack. A drop foot is telescopically borne within an inner sleeve, which is in turn telescopically borne within an outer sleeve. A rotatable screw is situated within the outer sleeve, and it engages the top surface of the inner sleeve so that rotation of the screw will move the outer sleeve and inner sleeve with respect to each other. The drop foot, inner sleeve, and outer sleeve preferably each have a circumference having multiple discrete sides, e.g., each may have a polygonal cross-section. Apertures are spaced along the lengths of the drop foot and the inner sleeve, and a latch plate having a generally planar configuration which can be selectively moved into aligned apertures in the inner sleeve and the drop foot to thereby engage the drop foot with respect to the inner sleeve.

  • Patent number: 6139235
Abstract: A lock-down assembly for securing a vehicle to a platform to prevent unauthorized removal such as an all-terrain vehicle to the deck of a trailer. The lock-down assembly includes a retractable bracket secured to the platform and a locking device securing the vehicle to the bracket. The locking device is an extendable bar having U-shaped members at both ends to engage the vehicle and bracket. The retractable bracket includes a base plate fastened to the platform and a selectively extendable U-bolt mounted to the base plate. The U-bolt is fastened to the base plate with a cylindrical bracket which prevents access to the fastening nuts of the U-bolt when the U-bolt is extended for connection to the vehicle. Accordingly, with the vehicle lockingly secured to the bracket, the bracket cannot be removed from the platform.
