    Abstract: An HDMI connector is adapted to be connected to a display device conforming to an HDMI standard. A signal processor is operable to decode a digital signal received through the HDMI connector and extract first language information which indicates a setting language of the display device when the digital signal contains the first language information. A storage is operable to store second language information which indicates a setting language of the information recording and reproducing apparatus.
