  • Patent number: 11401556
Abstract: A prognostic method, and a kit, for determining the risk of relapse of renal cancer of the clear cell renal carcinoma type, stages I and II, in a human subject; comprised of: (a) determining, in a tumor sample (biopsy) from the human subject, the levels of expression of the microRNAs hsa-miR-223, hsa-miR-103, hsa-miR-107, hsa-miR-425, hsa-miR-340, hsa-miR-130b, hsa-miR-652, hsa-miR-214, and hsa-miR-204; (b) determining a value which depends on the levels of expression of the microRNAs; and (c) determining the risk of relapse in renal cancer of the clear cell renal carcinoma type, in stages I and II, in the said human subject, by comparing the value obtained in step (b) with a cut-off value.

  • Patent number: 10093984
Abstract: The invention relates to a method to predict the response to treatment with radiotherapy combined with cisplatin-based chemotherapy in patients with cancer, preferably non-microcytic lung cancer, wherein said method is based on the detection of the presence of methylation in the IGFBP-3 gene. The present invention also relates to an in vitro method to design a customised treatment for an individual with said disease. The method of the invention may be quantitative or semi-quantitative. The present invention also relates to a probe designed for the quantitative detection of the methylation of the IGFBP-3 gene, to a kit that comprises it and to the use of the kit to predict the response of a subject to the aforementioned treatment.

  • Publication number: 20130211427
Abstract: The present invention relates to a surgical device for interrupted suture. It integrates a hollow needle (2) suitable for perforating selectable tissues and allowing the passage there through of a biocompatible T-suture thread (3), with an anchor (4); and a cylindrical rod (7) sized to be introduced and linearly displaced through the inside of the channel of said needle to push the mentioned anchor (4), to expulse it through the distal end of the needle (2). The device further comprises driving means comprising a pusher arranged for pushing the mentioned rod (7) by its proximal end and energy retaining and releasing means associated to the mentioned pusher for applying a push force thereto and causing, at will, a quick displacement of predetermined length, for pushing the suture once that the end is in a body cavity.
