  • Publication number: 20140009014
Abstract: The invention refers to a direct drive electric generator for a wind turbine provided with rotor salient poles and a ladder-like cryostat for housing superconductive coils and keeping them at a cryogenic temperature while the interior of the cryostat is kept free of coolant. The invention achieves optimal thermal insulation of the coils without the need of a continuous re-filling of the cryostat and ensuring a good distribution of the magnetic field avoiding the use of expensive materials.

  • Patent number: 8357223
Abstract: This invention relates to a waste treatment furnace and method comprising: Generating a molten metal bed, which moves in a forward direction, such as to define a closed circuit in a cyclical and continuous manner, the surface of said bed comprising at least one essentially-slag-free segment. Loading waste onto the aforementioned essentially-slag-free segment, the waste being dragged by the molten metal bed such that it floats in the mentioned forward direction. Retaining the waste on the surface of the molten metal bed as it moves in the mentioned forward direction. Treating the waste under the effect of the constant and continuous heat exchange generated by the movement of the molten metal bed beneath the waste retained thereon.

  • Publication number: 20120207376
Abstract: A method for digital image processing is bioinspired and includes an architecture that emulates the functions of photoreceptors, horizontal cells, bipolar cells and ganglion cells of a primate retina based on an image as input. The method detects edges and properties of the surfaces present in the digital image. The output is a data set that includes photoreceptor emulators that emulate photoreceptor cells and connected to the data input. Each emulator includes a cellular base structure with a modulated data input, a calculation center to process the modulated data and an output of the data processed by the calculation center, and the emulators forming a virtual retina in which each emulator is parameterized.
