  • Patent number: 7297721
Abstract: The present invention provides a process for the preparation of high molecular weight crystalline Polyethyleneterephthalate (PET) using up to 50% of Post consumer recycled PET flakes along with Pure Terephthalic Acid (PTA), Isophthalic Acid (IPA) and Mono Ethylene Glycol (MEG) as a virgin raw material, in the presence of a combination of catalysts and additives to obtain an intermediate prepolymer heel having a low degree of polymerization further subjecting to autoclaving to yield an amorphous melt and followed by solid state polymerization.

  • Publication number: 20070232763
Abstract: The invention provides polyester polymers suitable for production of monolayer and multilayer preforms and containers by a process of injection molding or co-injection molding and stretch blow molding technology for monolayer and multilayer containers. Containers of the invention not only have adequate CO2 barriers, but also have adequate O2 and UV barriers, high thermal stability, and burst strength to withstand tunnel pasteurization processes at about 60° C. for 20-30 minutes at 10 bar CO2 pressure for beer applications. There will further be no limitations due to humidity in respect of processing the resin/preforms and storage of preforms beyond what is required for normal PET. The polymers of the invention do not possess tie layer nor delamination problems and satisfy recycling criteria.

  • Patent number: 7199210
Abstract: A process for the preparation of polyethylene terephthalate by making use of non antimony catalysts is described. The Ti complex catalyst is pre-dispersed in the polymer matrix selected from PET, PBT, PCTG, PETG, PCT, PEN, PPT, PTT or any other related polyesters and prepared as a master batch. The key feature of the process is that the polyester obtained is having good whiteness, as against the yellowness normally encountered with Ti based catalysts, and also the polyester has very good clarity with minimum haze.
