Patent number: 4719681Abstract: A valve assembly and the manner of making the same of the character which embodies a hollow cylindrical body having fluid inlet and outlet ports and a slide member, or spool, slidable within the body to control fluid flow through the valve. Sealing elements are carried by the valve body for sealable engagement with the slide member as it reciprocates within the valve body. The fluid passageways which carry the fluid between the inlet and outlet ports of the valve body are uniquely formed internally of the slide member. Because the slide member is precision ground to a uniform diameter over its entire length, there exists no differing diameters or steps which might abrade the sealing means or tend to cause an inadvertant shifting of the spool within the valve body due to fluid pressures exerted thereon.Type: GrantFiled: January 27, 1987Date of Patent: January 19, 1988Assignee: Futurecraft CorporationInventor: Meyer Piet

Patent number: 4619285Abstract: A compact, light weight fluid flow control device adapted to be interconnected between a source of fluid under pressure and a normally stowed inflatable system such as a safety slide or flotation unit. The device uniquely initiates fluid flow between the source and the inflatable system by means of either a pyrotechnic device or a redundant mechanical system. Once fluid flow has been initiated, the device uniquely regulates and controls the flow of fluid toward the inflatable system.Type: GrantFiled: June 10, 1983Date of Patent: October 28, 1986Assignee: Futurecraft CorporationInventor: Meyer Piet

Patent number: 4243069Abstract: A precision fluid flow regulator for liquid and gaseous applications necessitating reduction of high inlet pressures and requiring precise control of outlet flow rates and pressures. The device includes a large pressure port and a cooperating pressure port closure means having a large pressure sensing area. Embodied internally of the unit is a novel sensing means for accurately sensing outlet flow rates and pressures and for providing instantaneous response to flow rate changes.Type: GrantFiled: June 22, 1979Date of Patent: January 6, 1981Assignee: Futurecraft CorporationInventors: Meyer Piet, James J. Patent number: 4139354Abstract: A small annular-shaped filter specially designed for use in controlled atmosphere work enclosures of the type used in dental operatories and the like for performing mercury handling operations. The filter can be conveniently removably mounted within the air outlet parts of the work enclosures and contains a filtering material specially developed for efficient removal of mercury vapor from the air passing through the filter.Type: GrantFiled: July 21, 1977Date of Patent: February 13, 1979Assignee: Futurecraft CorporationInventor: Dean G. Giles

Patent number: 4108509Abstract: An improved controlled atmosphere work enclosure for use in handling hazardous materials such as mercury and mercury alloys. The work enclosure comprises a hollow housing defining a work space within which an amalgamator unit, work platform, or the like can be mounted. Replaceable flexible plastic or rubber gloves are sealably affixed to glove rings mounted on the front of the unit to permit convenient working access to the amalgamator or work platform. Filtered air inlets are provided at each side of the work enclosure and a filtered air outlet is installed in the rear wall thereof above the work area. A fan unit is mounted exteriorly of the enclosure proximate the air outlet to maintain subatmospheric pressure within the enclosure and to cause air to be continuously drawn inwardly through the air inlets, through the work area and upwardly and rearwardly toward the filtered outlet.Type: GrantFiled: March 18, 1977Date of Patent: August 22, 1978Assignee: Futurecraft CorporationInventors: Meyer Piet, Dean Gaylord Giles

Patent number: 4059903Abstract: A controlled atmosphere work enclosure for use in handling hazardous materials such as mercury and mercury alloys. The work enclosure comprises a hollow housing defining a workspace having disposed intermediate thereof a perforated work platform upon which an amalgamator unit or the like can be mounted. Replaceable flexible plastic or rubber gloves are sealably affixed to glove rings mounted on the front of the unit to permit convenient working access to the platform. Filtered air inlets are provided above the work platform and a filtered air outlet is installed below the platform. Fan units are provided proximate the floor to maintain subatmospheric pressure within the enclosure and to cause air to be continuously drawn inwardly through the air inlets, rapidly downward past and through the work platform and outwardly through the filtered outlet. Use of the enclosure permits hazardous materials to be safely and expeditiously handled and stored without fear of environmental contamination.Type: GrantFiled: March 31, 1976Date of Patent: November 29, 1977Assignee: Futurecraft CorporationInventors: Meyer Piet, Dean Gaylord Giles
