Abstract: A reinforced molded plastic column wherein a plastic sleeve having the appearance of a column of natural material is molded about a central load bearing member, preferably a steel pipe, having extending ends engaging and being fastened to anchoring members fixed to a foundation and a roof, respectively. Column base and capital members are slideably carried on the plastic sleeve and when the load bearing member has been secured to the anchor members, the base and capital members are slid over the sleeve until they engage the foundation and roof, to which the base and capital members may be bonded, to disguise the extending ends of the load bearing members.
Abstract: A facade for a dormer window having side trim members and a pediment of molded plastic duplicating the appearance and texture of expensive wood millwork. The plastic is molded around boards having exposed rear faces. The boards give the structural strength of wood millwork to the trim and pediments and provide means for securely fixing by fasteners, such as screws the molded plastic members to a metallic skeleton frame defining an opening for pre-existing window frames.
Abstract: A corner post formed of two elongated members, which may be molded plastic, each member has a decorative ridge on the front face, a part of one ridge on one of the members lying along an edge thereof and defining a flange having an inner face which abuts an adjacent edge of the other member and covers the crack between the members. The ridge on the other member is spaced from its edge, the same distance as the first ridge is spaced from the front face of the other member. Additional symmetrically spaced ridges may also be provided.
Abstract: The invention is directed to an improved joint between building panels, e.g. molded roof panels for prefabricated bay windows, wherein the joint consists of a slot in the edge of one of the panels. The slot has side walls, each of which is at a different angle relative to the plane of the panel. The edge of the other panel is inserted into the slot and the respective side walls thereof are engaged by one side or the other of the edge of the other panel to locate the other panel in one angular position or another with respect to the plane of the first panel.
