  • Patent number: 4391307
Abstract: Improvements have been devised in wire straightening and cutting apparatus to the end of protecting the external coating on the wire as it is advanced, straightened and then cut to a predetermined length and are specifically directed to the novel arrangement of feed rollers upstream of a bending spindle to positively force the wire through the bending spindle, demagnetizer and cutter section in such a way as not to damage the external surface of the wire or remove any coating on the wire. A cutting mechanism is correlated with the driving of the feed rollers to cut the wire, once straightened, into predetermined lengths; also, the length of wire cut can be varied simply by varying the speed of the cutter relative to the speed of advancement of the wire.
