    Abstract: The invention relates to a `breech-block` valve for the delivery of cold or hot water with ceramic sealing plates in which a ring which is capable of independent axial displacements is fitted on the base of the valve body in order to take up and compensate for machining play and to stabilize the compacting force on the sealing ceramic plates by means of annular elastic packings independently of the force with which the valve is tightened within the tap body.
