Patents Assigned to Gallagher Electronics Limited
  • Patent number: 5651025
Abstract: A communication device is arranged to send a communication signal in the form of code pulses down an electric fence line which is energized by electric pulses from a fence energizer. The code pulses are generated to be distinct and separate from the electric pulses generated to energize the fence. A controller is included to control the charge and discharge of an energy storage device to generate at least the code pulses to be transmitted along the electric fence line. A coupling device is also included to couple both the code pulses and the electric fence energizing signal to the fence.

  • Patent number: 5514919
Abstract: An electric fence energizer including an energy storage capacitor (11), a controllable switch (17) for controlling the charge in the storage capacitor, a control circuit (15) connected to the controllable switch, and a sensor (19,20) that can relay information to the control circuit regarding the perceived electrical load on the output of the electric fence energizer. The control circuit upon receipt of the information from the sensor operates the controllable switch so that the charge on the capacitor varies so as to allow a continuously varying range of output voltages on the electric fence line once the capacitor is discharged.

  • Patent number: 5036166
Abstract: An electric fence line for use in confining livestock is formed of strands of a high strength and high visibility electrically insulative material, which have been woven, twisted, or braided, together with at least one highly electrically conductive low electrical resistance metal strand, such as copper wire, and at least one high-strength metal strand of higher electrical resistance, such as stainless steel. The metal strands are oriented in touching relation, either continuously or at positions spaced longitudinally of the metal strands, the high-strength metal strand providing an electrical bridge between ends of the highly electrically conductive strand or strands in the event of breakage of the highly electrically conductive strand, whereby to provide electrical continuity in the fence line with only a minimal increase in the total electrical resistance of the fence line.

  • Patent number: 4861645
Abstract: A conductive tape for an electrifiable fence comprising a tape of woven or knitted construction having at least two conducting wires arranged longitudinally and integrally in the woven or knitted structure. A bridging conductor is carried in or on the knitted or woven structure and is directed transversely across the two longitudinal conductors at intervals, so that, if a break occurs in one of the conductors, the current path is capable of continuing via the bridging conductor.

  • Patent number: 4859868
Abstract: This invention relates to an electric fence energizer, including: two or more transformers, the primary windings of said transformers being connected to the main circuitry of the energizer and the secondary windings of the transformers being connected to an electric fence, the main circuitry including: a control circuit connected to the primary windings, said control circuit being responsive to the load upon the primary windings or secondary windings detected within the energizer; two or more energy generating devices connected to said control circuit and respectively controlled by said control circuit, said energy generating devices being also connected to the primary windings of the transformers, said control circuit being operative to active the energy generating devices in accordance with the load upon the energizer.

  • Patent number: 4407485
Abstract: This invention relates to wheel-like electric fence standards where an electrified fence wire passes through an insulated hub member from which radiates a number of legs to form a wheel-like configuration and is characterized in that a contactor within the hub automatically connects and disconnects successively the legs from the fence wire to prevent the legs in contact with the ground from short-circuiting the fence.

  • Patent number: 4310869
Abstract: An electric fence energizer output control circuit to which is applied an output voltage from an electric fence energizer which voltage comprises sequential pulses having a short duration high voltage period and a longer duration low voltage period of opposite polarity. A control circuit comprising first and second rails, a triac connected in the first rail by the main terminals thereof, the triac being conductive during high voltage pulse periods. Means to sense the end of the current flow due to the high voltage pulse period and to cause current to flow in the gate terminal of the triac thereby maintaining the triac in the conductive state during the low voltage pulse period, the arrangement being such that on the application of a relatively low voltage and relative low frequency AC sinusoidal voltage to the output of said control circuit said triac is non-conductive to the AC voltage.

  • Patent number: 4114185
Abstract: An electric fence controller having a capacitor which can be charged to a predetermined voltage. A timer which discharges the capacitor at fixed intervals of time and a transformer, the primary of which is connected across the capacitor and the secondary of which is connected to a load and to an impedance connected to the primary or secondary of the transformer. The impedance when measured at the operating voltage from the secondary terminals of the transformer is less than the normal fence line impedance.
