  • Patent number: 6221030
Abstract: An automatic biopsy device includes a needle formed by a cannula and a stylet which is sliding axially inside the cannula and which is equipped with a cavity for receiving a sample of the organ to be examined. The device includes a first moving element and a second moving element mounted slidingly inside a box-like covering and aimed at being fastened respectively to a proximal end of the stylet and to a proximal end of the cannula of the needle. The first moving element and the second moving element are fastened by flexible means to a first cam and to a second cam, respectively. The cams rotate, independently one from the other, about a transversal axis of the covering. A first loading lever and a second loading lever, are pivoted to the covering and drive to rotate, the first cam and the second cam, respectively, against elastic means, so as to move to a loading position the first moving element and the second moving element.

  • Patent number: 5989197
Abstract: A biopsy needle device includes a stem slidably inserted into a cannula. Both the stem and the cannula are slidably supported by a box-shaped case. The box-shaped case houses a first movable assembly; a second movable assembly; a charging mechanism associated to the first and the second movable assemblies; an unlocking element; and an enabling element. The first movable assembly supports the cannula and is subject to a first spring. The second movable assembly supports the stem and is subject to a second spring. The charging mechanism is operable from outside the case in order to charge the first spring and the second spring at a charging phase, wherein the movable assemblies are engaged with the case by hooking mechanisms. The unlocking element releases the hooking mechanisms at an intermediate phase, wherein the second spring is discharged, and at a discharging phase, wherein the first and the second springs are both discharged.

  • Patent number: 5910121
Abstract: A biopsy device includes a cylindrical outer cannula with a proximal end and a distal end, has a handle in the region of its proximal end and a cutting rim in the region of its distal end. An intermediate cannula, with a proximal end and a distal end, is disposed inside the outer cannula. The proximal end of the intermediate cannula is fixed to the proximal end of the outer cannula. The distal end of the intermediate cannula is provided with elastic resection means having their free ends bent inward, when they are in non-operation condition. An inner cannula, of smaller diameter, is slidably located inside the intermediate cannula. The inner cannula can be moved axially with respect to the intermediate and outer cannulas between an advanced position, in which said cannula pushes the resection means keeping their free ends open, and a retracted position, in which these resection means are released, and the free ends of the are bent elastically.
