Abstract: A guard-equipped fishing hook 50 includes: a fishing hook 30; a guard 10 formed by bending a wire-like material in a V shape; and a base 20 fixed to a shank 30b of the fishing hook 30 and having a guard attachment hole 24 formed therein, the guard attachment hole 24 holding the guard 10 such that the guard is positioned in front of a hook tip 30a when an insertion end 10a as a bent end of the guard 10 is inserted into the guard attachment hole 24. The guard 10 is made of a superelastic alloy. The guard attachment hole 24 is formed so as to be gradually tapered from an opening 24a thereof to a deepest end thereof. A bending angle ? of the insertion end 10a of the guard 10 is larger than an opening angle ? of the guard attachment hole 24.

Abstract: An inexpensive fishhook and a method for manufacturing the same whereby a piece of bait can be put as far as an end part of the chimoto side. An upper part of a shank (2) of a fishhook (1) is hit to form a flat surface (3) thereon, and a hole (4) penetrating through the flat surface (3) is formed at two points with a vertical interval therebetween. A part of the shank (2) is cut transversely across an upper hole (4a) of the holes to thereby form, at the upper part of the shank (2), a hole (4b) through which a fishing line (5) is passed and tied, and two upward protrusions (7) enabling a piece of bait to be engaged therewith and being capable of preventing the fastened fish line from being displaced from the upper part of the shank.

Abstract: A fishing hook guard is provided which not only is able to prevent a guard member from being broken but also allows the direction of the guard member to be easily adjusted, and further allows the guard member to be easily replaced. It is possible to attain the above object when a fishing hook guard 10 includes a guard member 14 having flexibility and a base 16 formed from an elastic material and including: a shank insertion hole 18 through which a shank 12b of a fishing hook 12 is inserted and which has a smaller diameter than that of the shank 12b; and a guard member holding portion 20 which holds one end portion 14a of the guard member 14 such that another end portion 14b of the guard member 14 is directed toward a leading end portion 12a of the fishing hook 12.

In a wormhook 10, a shank 18, an upper bend 20, a heel of bend 22, and a throat 24 are formed between a line eye 14 to which a fishing line is bound and a hook point 16, a fixing part 26 is formed in a vicinity of the line eye 14 by bending the shank 18 in two stages, one end portion of a worm 12 is fixed to the fixing part 26, a central portion or the other end portion of the worm 12 is fixed to the heel of bend 22 or the throat 24.

Abstract: A method for forming a barb of a fishhook including the steps of pressing a thin flat portion of the tip and either cutting or chipping a part of the barb to form a rear face on a side opposite the tip of the hook. At least either upper or lower lateral sides of the hook tip may be cut to form flat or concave lateral cut faces with a sharp edge along a ridge at a juncture of the lateral cut faces.
