  • Patent number: 9992314
Abstract: Techniques are described for automatic device mode switching. In an implementation an electronic device provides a variety of functionality through multiple modes of the electronic device. The electronic device may be configured to toggle between modes when inserted into or removed from a corresponding mounting device. In an implementation, one operational mode may be automatically activated upon insertion of the electronic device into the mounting device. Another operational mode may be automatically activated when the electronic device is removed from the mounting device. In another implementation, multiple modes of an electronic device may be associated with multiple orientations of the device. An orientation detector may provide signals indicative of orientation, which when detected causes automatic activation of an associated operational mode.

  • Patent number: 9923288
Abstract: An Ethernet cable assembly including a cable with nine elongated conductors, a first connector and a second connector located on opposing ends of the cable, and a coupler for electrically coupling with one or both of the connectors. The connectors may each include nine pin receptacles electrically coupled with one of the elongated conductors. The nine receptacles may be arranged with one center receptacle surrounded by eight outer receptacles, symmetrically arranged about a line of symmetry passing through the center receptacle, such that when identical first or second connectors of another cable faces one of the first and second connectors, complementary crossover pairs of the receptacles match up with positive receptacles matching positive receptacles and negative receptacles matching negative receptacles. To couple these identical Ethernet connectors with each other, the coupler may have pins simply passing from one side of the coupler housing to another, without any crossover hardware required therein.

  • Patent number: 9851206
Abstract: A marine navigation device comprises a location determining element, a display, a memory element, and a processing element. The location determining element determines a current geolocation of a marine vessel on a first body of water. The display displays a map representation. The memory element stores digital elevation model data and sonar data for a plurality of bodies of water. The processing element is in communication with the memory element and is configured to select the digital elevation model data or the sonar data from the memory element corresponding to the first body of water, calculate contour line data, the contour line data determining a plurality of contour lines, update the contour line data by selectively removing at least a portion of the contour lines, and generate a map representation including contour lines derived from the updated contour line data, and control the display to visually present the map representation.

  • Patent number: 9835457
Abstract: Embodiments are disclosed to calculate and store rock climbing navigational data using a rock climbing watch including a sensor array configured to measure an orientation of the rock climbing watch and a processor configured to calculate an angle between two rock face locations along a rock climbing route based upon an orientation of the rock climbing watch when it is pointed from a current rock face location towards another rock face location. A processor may determine route segments for traversing the rock climbing route. A processor may convert route climbing navigational data into a three-dimensional wireframe rock climbing navigational map including rock face locations, calculated distances and angles between rock face locations, and a rock climbing route. The rock climbing watch may present information to guide the user along a rock climbing route by displaying a graphical directional indicator and a distance to the next rock face location.

  • Patent number: 9812118
Abstract: A marine multibeam sonar device comprises a transmitter, a memory element, and a processing element. The transmitter includes a plurality of transmit channel circuits, each connected to one of a plurality of transmit transducers. Each transmit channel circuit is configured to receive a transmit transducer electronic signal. The transmit transducers are oriented in a linear array that is configured to form a transmit acoustic beam. The processing element is in communication with the transmitter and the memory element and is configured to generate the transmit transducer electronic signals, each including a serial binary bitstream.

  • Patent number: 9801587
Abstract: A system, method, and device for monitoring a cardiac signal of a user includes an emitter (LED) for transmitting light toward skin of the user, a receiver (photodiode) for receiving a reflection of the transmitted light and generating a light intensity signal, and a processor configured to generate a photoplethysmogram (PPG) signal based on the light intensity signal. The PPG signal includes a cardiac component, a motion component and a respiratory component. An inertial sensor provides a motion signal to the processor based on sensed movement of the device and one or more time-variant filters are configured by the processor to filter the PPG signal to isolate the cardiac component of the PPG signal based on determined filter coefficients.

  • Patent number: 9784825
Abstract: A marine sonar display device comprises a display, a sonar element, a memory element, and a processing element. The display presents sonar images. The sonar element generates a sonar beam and presents transducer signals. The processing element is in communication with the display, the sonar element, and the memory element and receives the transducer signals, calculates sonar data from the transducer signals and generates a three-dimensional view of a portion of the body of water, wherein the view includes a plurality of sonar images. Each sonar image is generated from sonar data derived from a previously-generated sonar beam and includes representations of underwater objects and a water bed. The processing element also generates a cursor plane and a cursor positioned thereon, both of which appear on the three-dimensional view. The processing element further controls the display to present the three-dimensional view, the sonar images, the cursor plane, and the cursor.

  • Patent number: 9784826
Abstract: A marine multibeam sonar device comprises a processing element and a transmitter. The processing element generates a plurality of transmit transducer electronic signals and inverts a polarity of a first portion of the transmit transducer electronic signals. The transmitter is in communication with the processing element and includes a plurality of transmit electronic circuits and a plurality of transmit transducers. Each transmit electronic circuit receives and processes one of the transmit transducer electronic signals, wherein a first portion of the circuits re-inverts the polarity of the first portion of the transmit transducer electronic signals. The transmit transducers receive the processed transmit transducer electronic signals from the transmit electronic circuits and generate a sonar beam.

  • Patent number: 9766077
Abstract: A navigation device is disclosed that provides navigational guidance to boats needing to cross a boundary line at a milestone event time. Port and starboard laylines and guidelines may be displayed with the boundary line using wind direction data. The port and starboard layline angles may change with the wind direction, while their lengths may represent a distance traversed by the boat tacking at the port and starboard layline angles for a target time period at a target speed. A predictor line may be displayed extending from the boat in the direction in which the boat is traveling and may have a length indicating a distance traversed by the boat at its current speed until the milestone event time. The predictor line length and color may provide feedback regarding whether the boat will cross the boundary too early or too late given its current speed and direction.
