  • Patent number: 5442939
Abstract: Textile yarn package supporting carriers are disclosed for use in both horizontal and vertical textile dyeing machines to enable the machine to be effectively operated at less than full capacity, Each carrier has a base with multiple upstanding package supporting posts each having a longitudinal package supporting portion adjacent the base and a longitudinal threaded spindle portion extending outwardly in alignment therewith, The package supporting portion is dimensioned to securely support a predetermined minimum number of packages on each post and adapters are provided for slidable mounting onto the spindle portions of each post to accommodate additional yarn packages up to the maximum capacity of the carrier. A threaded cap mounts to the spindle portion of each post for movement therealong into engagement with the outermost package on the post.

  • Patent number: 5195225
Abstract: Means and method for extracting moisture from a traveling web of textile material containing high-moisture content processing fluid using a fluid applicator extending transversely across the path of the traveling web for applying low-moisture content fluid through holes in a distribution manifold on one side of the traveling web. A flow restricting roller is disposed on the opposite side of the travelling web in opposition to the fluid applicator holes closely downstream from the holes and serving to confine the low-moisture content fluid flow from the applicator into and through the traveling web, thereby causing displacement of high-moisture content fluid from the traveling web with low-moisture content fluid. The flow restricting roller is disposed at a spacing above the applicator less than the free-standing thickness of the traveling web and applies pressure to compress the traveling web and effect flow restriction.

  • Patent number: 5129242
Abstract: A wet processing jet machine for treating textile piece goods in rope form at a low liquid ratio. A plug supporting tube is provided as a vertical extension of a U-shaped processing chamber. The sides of the chamber are perforated and the bottom is imperforate for enhanced movement of the plug through the chamber. The tube extension is perforated to allow flow of liquid therefrom for enhanced plaiting. The amount of liquid with the rope in the plug is minimized for low liquid requirements and the head of the plug causes the plug to progress through the chamber above the low level of the liquid in the bottom of the vessel, which liquid level is below the bottom of the chamber or at least at a level that does not cause substantial floatation of the plug. The rope entering the tube is plaited by passing through an inverted frusto-conical plaiting nozzle that is oscillated and reciprocated to provide effective plaiting.

  • Patent number: 4977761
Abstract: A liquor applying nozzle has a hollow tubular frame surrounding the path of a textile rope circulating in a textile dyeing machine to provide an opening having an elongated, generally straight, transversely extending bottom, a transversely extending top surface spaced from the bottom, and a pair of spaced, upstanding, generally straight side surfaces. Dye liquor is distributed through the hollow interior of the frame to lower and upper orifices extending across the bottom and top surface of the frame. The nozzle further includes an enclosure portion extending downstream from the tubular frame and upper and lower plate-like members that extend in spaced relation to the enclosure portion and are adjustable with respect thereto to adjustably define the size of the orifices.

  • Patent number: 4952325
Abstract: Cylindrical textile filters of the radially outward filtration flow type such as utilized in textile wet processing systems are cleaned of filtered accumulation in an inclined filter housing wherein the filter is continuously rotated while a spray nozzle travels axially along the length of the filter applying a high velocity spray of cleaning water radially inwardly with respect to the filter. Simultaneously, a shower-like water spray is applied axially through the filter interior to flush the filtered accumulation as it is dislodged by the high-pressure spray nozzle.

  • Patent number: 4884893
Abstract: A method and apparatus for generating and dispersing immiscible liquid particles in a carrier liquid by introducing the immiscible liquid as streams into a tubular flow of carrier liquid and shearing particles from the streams immediately as they enter the flow path with shearing elements rotating through the tubular flow path closely adjacent the ends of the tubes. The flow of the particle-containing liquid is stabilized by vanes extending parallel to the tubular flow path and the flow is disrupted to disturb any uneven concentration of particles by an offset portion of the flow conduit, which offset portion is rotated. The flow is distributed into dispensing conduits mounted on a support that is reciprocated to impart a primary reciprocal motion and a secondary reciprocal motion to the dispensing of the particle-containing carrier liquid for application to a substrate, such as carpet.

  • Patent number: 4655056
Abstract: An applicator for applying foamed treating liquor across the flat width of a traveling textile fabric or like substrate includes an arcuate housing having an arcuate interior partition wall intermediate a foam inlet port and a foam emission nozzle opening in the housing to define a distribution chamber providing a turning foam pathway from the inlet port about the curved edge of the partition wall to the emission opening. The curved edge of the interior wall is parabolic in shape to define substantially all possible foam flow paths from the inlet port linearly to the curved edge and linearly the respective shortest distances therefrom to the emission opening to be of substantially the same total length. Accordingly, foam residence time within the distribution chamber is substantially constant regardless of the flow path assumed, to control foam degeneration to occur uniformly for uniform widthwise treatment of the traveling fabric.
