Publication number: 20250216007Abstract: A hybrid tube construction for use in, e.g., industrial or hydraulic hoses is described, the hybrid tube generally including coextruded interior tube and outer tube layers. The interior tube layer of the hybrid tube is a functional layer having chemical resistance to the fluid to be conveyed within the hybrid tube, while the outer tube layer is a modulus layer providing the hybrid tube with strength and flexibility. The hybrid tube may optionally include a reinforcement layer and/or cover layer. Manufacture of the hybrid tube generally uses simultaneous coextrusion of the interior tube layer material and the outer tube layer material to thereby form the hybrid tube construction. In some embodiments, the hybrid tube formed by coextrusion has sufficient structural integrity that supporting mandrels and/or post-extrusion curing steps are not required.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 31, 2023Publication date: July 3, 2025Applicant: GATES CORPORATIONInventors: Morgan Morroni, Thomas S. Publication number: 20250075774Abstract: Belt systems, such as toothed systems, having a belt and a wheel (e.g., a pulley, gear, sprocket, etc.) that have the fit of the wheel optimized for the fit of the belt, and vice versa. The systems utilize combined techniques and materials to create a belt and wheel interface that improves and even maximizes performance by increasing the efficient transfer of power between belt and wheel, and by distributing the forces across multiple teeth of the wheel. A coating on the wheel can be used to modify the pitch of the wheel.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 19, 2024Publication date: March 6, 2025Applicant: GATES CORPORATIONInventors: Leslee Brown, Jennifer E. Patent number: 12055197Abstract: A center cord-line V-belt with a radially centered cord line of helically wound tensile cord embedded in a very high-modulus adhesion gum, an overcord layer, and an undercord layer. The adhesion gum has a substantially isotropic modulus, while the overcord and undercord layers have anisotropy in with-grain and cross-grain moduli. The overcord and undercord cross-grain moduli are less than the adhesion gum modulus. The anisotropic moduli are the result of oriented short fibers and the with-grain modulus is oriented axially in the belt. The adhesion gum preferably has no short fiber. The belt preferably has no reinforcing fabric layer and no fabric wrap. The adhesion gum, overcord layer and undercord layer are preferably based on an ethylene-alpha-olefin elastomer, with peroxide cure, reinforcing filler, and metal salt of an ?-?-unsaturated organic acid. The belt may have notches on one or both of the inner and outer radial surfaces for additional flexibility.Type: GrantFiled: July 23, 2020Date of Patent: August 6, 2024Assignee: GATES CORPORATIONInventors: Douglas R.
