Abstract: A joint brace comprises a first frame adapted to be secured onto a body part on the first side of a joint, a second frame adapted to be secured onto a body part on the other side of a joint, a hinge mechanism connecting the first frame to the second frame so the first frame and the second frame can rotate relative to one another about a hinge axis that is adapted to be generally aligned with the axis of rotation of the joint, and a bias system that biases the first frame away from the second frame and towards an extended position. In one version, the bias is applied for more than about 30 degrees of flexion of the first frame relative to the second frame. In another version, is removable so that it can be selectively installed and removed by the user.
Abstract: A helmet stabilization system comprises a flexible strap connectable at a first end to a helmet and a spooling mechanism comprising a spool connectable to a second end of the flexible strap, the spooling mechanism being securable to a user wearing the helmet, wherein the spooling mechanism allows the flexible strap to be selectively extended and retracted on the spool.
Abstract: An athletic shoe includes a sole having one or more anchors, a protrusion attachable to each of the anchors, and a releasing system adapted to release the protrusions from the anchors when a predetermined condition is experienced by the sole. In one version, the releasing system includes a portion of the protrusion that is receivable in the anchor and wherein the portion and the anchor are magnetically attracted to one another. In one version, the releasing system includes a sensor that detects a condition, and the releasing system causes the protrusion to be released from the anchor when the condition exceeds a predetermined level.
