  • Patent number: 4547725
Abstract: The invention addresses a new process for determination of characteristic quantities, particularly the moisture content, of a pourable food moving along a product line, particularly grain and its processing products. In this process the good is passed through the electric field of a condenser assembly, a magnitude associable with the capacity of the condenser assembly is measured, and this magnitude is converted into the desired characteristic quantity. The invention further addresses an apparatus to carry out the new process, which includes a first assembly to pass the good through a condenser assembly, a second assembly for measurement of a magnitude associable with the condenser assembly, and a conversion mechanism for conversion of the measured magnitude into the desired characteristic value.

  • Patent number: 4466542
Abstract: A separating contrivance for separating cereals and similar grain product into at least three grain fractions and heavier impurities comprises two air-penetrable fluidized bed tables (2, 3) arranged one over the other and supported in fashion capable of being oscillated in relation to a frame, with a product inlet (9) leading to the upper fluidized bed table. At one end of the contrivance, and spaced away from the inlet (9), the upper fluidized bed table (2) is provided with outlets (10, 18) for the light and medium heavy grain fractions, while the lower fluidized bed table (3) includes outlet (27) for the heavy grain fraction. Adjoining the other end of the lower fluidized bed table (3) is an outlet (16) for the heavy impurities such as stones and the like. In order to achieve a practically complete sorting of the heavy impurities, provision is made so that the two fluidized bed tables (2, 3) are supported independently of one another and are driven by separate oscillating drives (7, 25).

  • Patent number: 4303205
Abstract: An agitator mill for treating a liquid containing material particles for example for dispersing paint pigment in a mixture of solvent and binder basically comprises a milling vessel containing freely movable milling bodies and with an inlet and outlet for said liquid, stirrer mechanism within the milling vessel and an electric stirrer motor for driving the stirrer mechanism. The mill features, for the purpose of obtaining optimum operating efficiency, a control circuit which regulates the stirrer motor current to a constant value by adjustment of a pump supplying the liquid to the milling vessel and/or a volume controller for controlling the volume of milling bodies within the milling vessel or the volume of the milling vessel and a temperature control circuit which controls the operating temperature in the milling vessel to lie at a constant value. Various variants and control possibilities including the use of a computer are set forth together with methods of controlling the agitator mill.

  • Patent number: 4299597
Abstract: A method and apparatus for the cyclical counter-scavenging of filter hoses, particularly the control thereof, is disclosed. According to the present invention, the counter-scavenging of filter hoses is accomplished by gas blasts whose timing and duration are controlled by a fluid control apparatus. The fluid control apparatus consists of a drum distributor having an arm whose position controls the timing of the counter-scavenging blasts, and a valve whose activation controls the duration of the counter-scavenging blasts. The drum distributor and the valve are independently controllable by an electronic circuit including timing signals and control circuitry receiving the timing signals and converting these signals into activating signals for the drum distributor and the valve.

  • Patent number: 4226578
Abstract: A cylindrical die for a pellet mill for animal feedstuffs is releasably clamped to a rotatable die holder by means of a series of clamping segments disposed in a recess at the end face of the die holder. The recess has a radially outer conically diverging surface which cooperates with conically shaped outer surfaces on the segments to produce clamping of the radially inner faces of the segments on an end portion of the die.The clamping segments are urged into engagement by springs acting on rods connected to the segments and are disengagable by means of a series of hydraulic rams which can be actuated to oppose the force of the springs. The direction of the forces is chosen to be at an angle to the axis of the die holder so as to cause the clamping segments to follow the surface of the recess and to move radially away from the die during disengagement. The angle chosen is preferably the angle of divergence of the recess. In a modification centering segments are interdigitated with the clamping segments.

  • Patent number: 4208368
Abstract: A method of molding articles of plastic having an expanded plastic cellular core using a closable and sealable mold having a sealed mold cavity and including at least one mold core extending into the cavity, comprises, directing the plastic melt material containing a foaming agent into the mold cavity under pressure so as to form a flow front of the melt which progresses through the cavity and which spreads out in all directions and flows around the mold core and tends to form a pocket of gas in the vicinity of the mold core, and venting the cavity adjacent the core so as to remove gas from any gas pocket which may be formed in the vicinity of the core. The apparatus for carrying out the invention includes a vent line which extends from the cavity in the vicinity of the mold core out of the cavity and which has a control valve for opening the vent line to vent any gas which forms in the cavity and which might tend to form a pocket after the buildup of a pressure in the mold cavity.

  • Patent number: 4193555
Abstract: A roll mill has sealing devices pressed against the ends of the rolls to seal the roll gap so that material being processed is not squeezed out (such as oil seed during treatment for flaking). The sealing devices include flow guides (such as recesses therein). A curtain of material, wider than the rolls are long, falls onto the roll gap, and so much of it as exceeds the width of the rolls is guided by the flow guides into the roll gap from beyond the ends of the rolls outwardly of the roll ends. This happens because the flow guides themselves extend near the roll gap but stop short of the roll ends. The sealing devices may include a sealing pin surmounted by an elongate wedge member, the two having communicating recesses which together form the flow guide.

  • Patent number: 4067238
Abstract: The device is of the type including a balance beam pivotally connected to a housing, an inclined measuring plate, adapted to deflect a product stream supplied in metered quantities and flowing off by gravity, mounted on the balance beam in a position in which its measuring surface extends substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the balance beam, and a mechanism in the housing, operatively associated with the lever arm of the balance beam remote from the measuring plate, and operable to act on such lever arm, in opposition to the effect of the deflecting force acting on the measuring plate, to produce a variable proportional to the time rate of the product flow and represented by a preferably pneumatic signal, resulting from oscillation of the balance beam about its position of equilibrium, this signal constituting the basis of either a measurement or a flow control derived from the signal.
