  • Patent number: 6313424
Abstract: A multipoint switch, especially for high voltage, having identically configured interrupter units (2, 3, 4), the pivoting contacts (10) of which are connected to a common drive (44) by a linkage mechanism (50, 60, 71) associated with the interrupter unit (2, 3, 4) and by a drive linkage (47), whereby the linkage mechanisms (50, 60, 71) of all interrupter units (2, 3, 4) are identically configured and are moved back and forth between the on- and off-position by the drive. Each linkage mechanism (50, 60, 71) includes a rocker arm (21, 65) attached to a pivoting shaft (20, 64) and a connecting rod (22, 63) articulated to it and to the pivoting contact. A rocker link (27, 66) is arranged on the pivoting shaft (20, 64), which under combined action is connected to the drive linkage (47) with at least another linkage mechanism (32, 33, 36, 62, 70). Two operatively combined links of the linkage mechanism (50, 60, 71) take a position at least close to a stable position in the on- and off-position.

  • Patent number: 6013886
Abstract: The invention relates to a high-speed control device for a high voltage connection apparatus, in particular a ground disconnector, which apparatus is fitted with a moving contact. The device comprises a spring for storing mechanical energy, a cocking mechanism for cocking the spring and comprising an electric motor organized to drive a first rotary part, a pivot arm, a second rotary part, and a latch organized to cooperate with said second rotary part to define two stable positions. The pivot arm carries the first pin organized to co-operate with two bearing surfaces of said first rotary part, and a second pin organized to co-operate with the two bearing surfaces of said second rotary part. The device makes it possible to obtain two stable latching points that are disposed at 180.degree. from each other.

  • Patent number: 5981889
Abstract: A spring drive mechanism for power switch gear. The mechanism includes an engagement shaft free to rotate about its own axis and carrying both a large toothed wheel and a cam. An engagement spring constituted by a traction spring is coupled to the large toothed wheel at an attachment point by a chain. The large toothed wheel meshes with a small toothed wheel which is coupled via a gear train to a driving gearwheel secured to an outlet shaft of a drive motor. In the predetermined direction A of rotation, the large toothed wheel includes a discontinuity in its teeth, thereby generating a gap which constitutes a zone without teeth, and in which a retractable tooth is disposed. Following the retractable tooth, the large toothed wheel has an additional discontinuity in its teeth over at least two meshing steps. This mechanism is advantageous as switchgear for a circuit breaker.

  • Patent number: 5767471
Abstract: In a pressurized gas circuit-breaker the mobile contact member is fixed to a connecting rod that passes coaxially through the fixed braking cylinder. The braking cylinder has transverse walls at both ends so as to delimit a cylinder. The connecting rod has a drive abutment that drives the braking piston in a final section of the opening travel, which increases the pressure in the first sub-space and reduces the pressure in the second sub-space. The braking piston is disposed on a bush around the connecting rod, the bush and the connecting rod delimiting an annular cylinder space between the drive member and a counter-abutment on the bush, a pressure being generated when the circuit-breaker opens. In this way a high braking force with no impact is very rapidly obtained.

  • Patent number: 5595287
Abstract: A spring drive for an electrical switching apparatus has a switch-on shaft to which a switch-on spring is coupled eccentrically and on which a large wheel (16) is seated in a rotationally fixed manner. A small wheel (20), which is driven in order to stress the switch-on spring, interacts with the large wheel (16). A tooth system (52) on the large wheel (16) has a gap (54) for decoupling the wheel pair (18) formed by large wheel (16) and small wheel (20) when the switch-on spring is stressed. In order to connect the switching apparatus, the large wheel (16) is driven in a rotation direction (D), as a result of which the tooth system (52) engages with the small wheel (20) again. In order to prevent blocking when the teeth engage in one another, the teeth (60) on the small wheel (20) are constructed in such a manner that the edges (56, 58) abut against one another radially on an outer side at a common edge (62).

  • Patent number: 5561280
Abstract: A compressed gas-blast circuit breaker including a pump cylinder which is moved along with a movable first contact piece. The pump cylinder surrounds a pumping space and a blast chamber, the latter of which is fluidly connected to a first blast nozzle surrounding the first contact piece. A pump piston is supported on a fixed support part via toggle levers, and a toggle joint of the toggle levers is pivoted to a drive rod via a rocker. At the start of a switch-off stroke, an initial bent position of the toggle lever is lessened, intensified after the straightened position has been passed, then lessened again and intensified again after the straightened position has been passed once more. The oscillation of the toggle lever about the straightened position permits the pump piston to be virtually stationary, while an intermediate bottom, which separates the pumping space from the blast chamber, approaches the pump piston in order to reduce the pumping volume.

  • Patent number: 5541378
Abstract: A drive device includes a cam disk (18), which, for switching on the power switch, can be driven by means of an energy store, impulsively, in a direction of rotation (D). A first section (48) of the curve path (20) of the cam disk (18), which, as the azimuth increases counter to the direction of rotation (D), exhibits an increasing radius, is adjoined by an intermediate section (50) of steadily decreasing radius. After this intermediate section (50) there follows a second section (52), running roughly in the radial direction. As a result of the interaction of the first section (48) with the roller (22'), the triangular lever (76), together with the control shaft (26), moves counter to the direction of rotation (D) out of the switch-off setting into the switch-on setting and by a measure of one overtravel (U) beyond this.

  • Patent number: 5510590
Abstract: Each interrupter unit (10, 12, 14) of the switch for medium voltage and high voltage has a drive shaft (30), a moving switch contact piece (18) and a transmission linkage (38) which connects the switch contact piece (18) to the drive shaft (30). All the interrupter units (10, 12, 14) are of identical construction. A drive lever (40) is seated in a rotationally fixed manner on each drive shaft (30), which drive levers (40) are connected to one another via connecting rods (44, 46). In order to bring about staggered switching, the drive levers (40) of at least two interrupter units (10, 12, 14) are arranged in a different rotation position with respect to their drive shafts (30).

  • Patent number: 5444202
Abstract: An actuator for the rapid connection and disconnection of a switch (10) has a primary shaft (12) , which can be rotated to and fro between a first end setting (18) and a second end setting (18') and possesses a tension lever (16). Seated in a rotationally secure manner on a delivery shaft (14) parallel to the primary shaft (12) is the drive shaft (22), which can be rotated, under the force of the spring-loading arrangement (26), from the disconnect setting (24) into the connect setting (24') and back. The spring-loading arrangement (26) includes a helical spring (28), which acts as a pre-tensioned compression spring and is supported by its spring ends (36, 36') on a respective butt strap (32, 34), which butt straps in turn interact, via driving stops (52, 54, 56, 58), with the tension lever (16) and the drive lever (22).
