Abstract: A system comprising a base unit and a remote unit for transmitting telephonic data on AC power lines is disclosed. The base unit includes a transmitter section, a receiver section, a power line interface, a telephone line interface, a power supply, and a first microcontroller. The telephone line interface is coupled to a telephone line to apply the telephonic data signals to and receive signals from the telephone line. The telephone line interface has a ring detector, a muting circuit, and a hook switch. The transmitter is coupled to the telephone line interface and the power line interface. The transmitter has a modulator, an oscillator, an amplifier, and a filter. The receiver is coupled the telephone interface and the power line interface. The receiver has a filter, an amplifier, and a detector. The remote unit includes a transmitter section, a receiver section, a power line interface, a telephone interface, a power supply, and a second microcontroller.
Abstract: A system for matching a replacement part coupling interface with the coupling interface of a spent part. The matching feature reduces the likelihood of an incorrect selection of a replacement part. The matching system can be used to properly select a battery pack for cordless telephone handsets by making it possible to physically check the compatibility of the plug without the need to open or remove the product from its packaging.
Abstract: An adapter enables the playback of various audio devices such as compact disc players and the like through a cassette player of either the front or side loading type. The adapter is provided with a user removable partial cover which permits repositioning of its external electrical conductor which is connected to the audio device. In this manner, the electrical conductor may be positioned so as not to interfere with the internal mechanisms within the cassette player during use.
Abstract: A system for wireless connection of a television signal source such as a video cassette player to a standard television receiver within a home. A local television signal is modulated on a nonstandard carrier frequency different form the standard carrier frequencies utilized for conventional broadcast television. The nonstandard broadcast signal is unintelligible to a standard television receiver. Because a nonstandard broadcast signal is employed, the television signal cannot be received by standard television receivers in neighboring homes. A converter unit at the remote location adjacent the television receiver receives the nonstandard signal, amplifies the received signal, mixes the received signal with a local oscillator signal to convert the nonstandard signal to an output signal on a standard television channel carrier frequency at an output terminal connected to the antenna input of a television set.
Abstract: An assemblable display device includes an elongate base plate supporting characters of the message to be displayed, an open-ended, generally tubular, transparent sleeve member about equal in length to the base plate and adapted to encase the base plate, and a pair of mounting members adapted to enclose each end of the sleeve in a generally sealing manner and to provide mounting surfaces for attaching the device to a suitable mounting structure. Advantageously, the device further includes adaptor plates adapted for removable attachment to the mounting brackets for providing interchangeable mounting surfaces onto the mounting brackets.
