Patent number: 10647017Abstract: A fluid-driven ring saw includes a ring saw blade that is supported and driven by a fluid. The fluid-driven ring saw can include one or more pairs of fluid nozzles. Each pair of fluid nozzles can include a first fluid nozzle separated from a second fluid nozzle by a gap. The ring blade can be positioned within the gap. The ring blade can include a plurality of holes. The one or more pairs of fluid nozzles can deliver fluid jets that impinge upon the plurality of holes of the ring blade to drive rotation of the ring blade. The ring blade can be driven without direct contact of a mechanical linkage, such as a belt or chain. The ring blade can be relatively thinner than ring blades driven by mechanical linkages.Type: GrantFiled: May 29, 2018Date of Patent: May 12, 2020Assignee: Gemini Saw Company, Inc.Inventor: Jesse G. Patent number: 8286624Abstract: A flat-sided annular blade for a blade ring saw for cutting hard materials such as tile along straight paths and curved paths in which the workpiece is moved through the central portion of the blade. In addition to the usual sintered abrasive diamond coating on the outer peripheral portion of the blade, the inner peripheral portion preferably is tapered to a curved inner edge and also is coated with an abrasive, preferably an electroplated diamond coating providing smoother sawing operation and a finishing action on the workpiece.Type: GrantFiled: August 24, 2010Date of Patent: October 16, 2012Assignee: Gemini Saw Company, Inc.Inventor: Jesse G. Cogswell

Publication number: 20080301953Abstract: Guides for ring saws and ring saws incorporating them and template systems are provided. The guides can be circular, square, rectangular or portions thereof. The system can comprise a guide and a template. The template can be configured to be placed onto a workpiece in a fixed relation relative to the workpiece. The template has an edge along which a side edge of the guide can travel. The guide is attachable to a platen of the ring saw and can include an insertion channel and a blade aperture for allowing passage of a blade of the ring saw during attachment of the guide to the platen. The guide and the template can be sized and configured such that the side surface of the guide can contact the edge of the template for allowing the guide to be moved along a desired cut path to quickly and easily create a precise cut.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 31, 2008Publication date: December 11, 2008Applicant: Gemini Saw Company, Inc.Inventor: Jesse Cogswell
