  • Patent number: 5491184
Abstract: ABA block copolymers having saturated polyester midblocks "B" and unsaturated polyester condensation end blocks A of molecular weight from about 100 to 500 or 600 are described which increase the flexural strain to failure of unsaturated polyester or vinyl ester resins. These ABA block copolymers are generally compatible with unsaturated polyester resins and increase flexural strain by a different mechanism than used by incompatible rubbery polymers. These ABA block copolymers are compatible with the unsaturated polyester compositions and do not phase separate.

  • Patent number: 5483890
Abstract: This invention relates to a method of creating a seamless printing master for use with an embossing roll to ultimately produce a textured wall or floor covering. A hardenable material is applied to the textured surface of a positive printing master section. The positive printing master section is pressed onto the embossing roll and the hardenable material is allowed to cure to a hardened state. The positive printing master section is then removed to expose a negative printing master region which is the negative image of the pattern contained in the positive printing master section, imprinted in hardened material, and adhered to the embossing roll. The process is repeated, either reusing the original positive printing master section or using a different positive printing master section, overlapping positive printing master sections onto previously formed negative printing master regions until the entire outer surface of the embossing roll is covered.

  • Patent number: 5481838
Abstract: An anti-fracture, water-resistant, masonry-bondable membrane comprises a lamina having a central layer generally containing at least one ply of a flexible material, e.g., an organic polymer such as polyvinyl chloride, generally in the form of a sheet, and a nonwoven fiber layer physically bonded to each side thereof. The formation of the lamina is generally accomplished by laminating a single, nonwoven layer to a layer or sheet of a flexible material in the presence of heat and pressure to produce a construction wherein the nonwoven fibers are partially embedded in the flexible material. Subsequently, two such constructions are bonded together under heat and pressure to produce essentially a four-ply lamina wherein the layers of flexible material such as a polymer are fused to one another.

  • Patent number: 5468831
Abstract: A one-package primerless structural adhesive is disclosed that is particularly well suited for adhering one or more substrates of fiber-reinforced plastics. This adhesive uses dicyandiamide, its substituted derivatives, or melamine as the principal curative. A polyisocyanate prepolymer is made from various polyols reacted with polyisocyanates. In the absence of moisture, the curative and polyisocyanate can coexist in a single package without reacting for periods of time in excess of four months. Upon heating the adhesive to 150.degree. C., it cures in about five minutes or less, forming an initial structural bond that after heat aging is often stronger than the cohesive strength of the fiber reinforced substrate.

  • Patent number: 5467708
Abstract: This invention relates to a method of creating a seamless printing master for use with an embossing roll to ultimately produce a textured wall or floor covering. A hardenable material is applied to the textured surface of a positive printing master. The embossing roll is placed on the positive printing master and then rolled in a forward direction, compressing the hardenable material between the textured surface of the substrate and the outer surface of the embossing roll, until approximately three fourths of the circumference of the embossing roll is covered. The hardenable material is then allowed to harden. A second amount of hardenable material is applied to the portion of the positive printing master which corresponds to the uncovered portion of the embossing roll.
