Abstract: An apparatus for performing a process having a step of centrifugation of a material contained in at least one test tube and a step of supplying a gas into the test tube. The apparatus has a centrifugation device provided with a rotor that is rotatably arranged about a central rotation axis, where at least one process housing is defined for at least one test tube, wherein at least one process housing is arranged at a peripheral position of the rotor with respect to the central rotation axis, a cover and a lock means for locking the rotor to the cover, said lock means comprising an elongated portion that is adapted to firmly engage with said rotor. The apparatus has a gas channeling means with a passageway defined in the lock member, the passageway conveying into the chamber a gas flow coming from an external source, and also a discharge passageway.
