Abstract: A customizable and upgradable imaging system is provided. Imaging detector columns are installed in a gantry to receive imaging information about a subject. Imaging detector columns can extend and retract radially as well as be rotated orbitally around the gantry. The gantry can be partially populated with detector columns and the detector columns can be partially populated with detector elements.

Abstract: An inlet transition section and an inlet bowl entry can be designed to reduce a number of turbomachine casing designs. Using relationships between flow properties, distances between elements, crossover/supply pipe diameter, ideal cross sectional area, aspect ratio, and inlet bowl entry size, a transition from circular cross section to substantially polygonal cross section can be made while enabling adoption of a single size of substantially polygonal inlet bowl entry for a plurality of turbine sizes and/or crossover/supply pipe sizes with minimal losses.

Abstract: A turbine system and method of operating is provided. The system includes a compressor configured to generate a compressed low-oxygen air stream and a combustor configured to receive the compressed low-oxygen air stream and to combust a fuel stream to generate a post combustion gas stream. The turbine system also includes a turbine for receiving the post combustion gas stream to generate a low-NOx exhaust gas stream, a heat recovery system configured to receive the low-NOx exhaust gas stream and generate a cooled air stream and an auxiliary compressor configured to generate an oxygen and water vapor deficient cooled and compressed air stream. A portion of the oxygen and water vapor deficient cooled and compressed air stream is directed to the combustor to generate an Oxygen and H2O deficient film on exposed portions of the combustor, and another portion is directed to the turbine to provide a cooling flow.

Abstract: A system and method for directionally casting an elongated device are provided. The method includes orienting a mold within a furnace such that a first portion of the mold points downward. The first portion of the mold defines a space within the mold used to form a first end of the device. The first end of the device, when formed, has a greater mass than a second end of the device. The method also includes filling the mold with molten metal and lowering the mold out of the furnace into a liquid metal bath to immerse the first portion of the mold in the liquid metal bath. The method includes concurrently lowering the mold and the liquid metal bath to cool the molten metal.

Abstract: A multi-color pyrometry imaging system for a high-temperature asset includes at least one viewing port in optical communication with at least one high-temperature component of the high-temperature asset. The system also includes at least one camera device in optical communication with the at least one viewing port. The at least one camera device includes a camera enclosure and at least one camera aperture defined in the camera enclosure, The at least one camera aperture is in optical communication with the at least one viewing port. The at least one camera device also includes a multi-color filtering mechanism coupled to the enclosure. The multi-color filtering mechanism is configured to sequentially transmit photons within a first predetermined wavelength band and transmit photons within a second predetermined wavelength band that is different than the first predetermined wavelength band.
