Patent number: 5749184Abstract: A frame assembly for a door light is formed with inner and outer half-frames sandwiching a translucent panel. The half-frames have a plurality of side members defining a closed polygon. Each side member includes, in cross-section, a flat portion for supporting the frame in an opening in a support, a face portion extending from the flat portion towards the center of the polygon, a third portion extending inwardly from the face portion toward the other half-frame and to a position adjacent the translucent panel, and a fourth portion extending from the third portion parallel to the face portion and away from the center of the polygon. Fasteners extend through bores in the inner half-frame and engage clips slidably adjustable in the outer half-frame to couple and secure the half-frames in the support opening. Each clip has a base with an opening receiving a fastener, and legs with flanges engaging the fourth portion and a lip on the flat portion of the outer half-frame.Type: GrantFiled: November 13, 1996Date of Patent: May 12, 1998Assignee: General Products Company, Inc.Inventor: H. Patent number: 5644874Abstract: A frame assembly for a door light is formed with inner and outer half-frames sandwiching a translucent panel. The half-frames are separately and similarly formed of sheet material, each with a plurality of substantially similar side members defining a closed polygon. Each side member includes, in cross-section, a flat portion for supporting the frame in an opening in a support, a face portion extending from the flat portion towards the center of the polygon, a third portion extending inwardly from the face portion toward the other half-frame and to a position adjacent the translucent panel, a fourth portion extending from the third portion parallel to the face portion and away from the center of the polygon, and a fifth portion extending inwardly from the fourth portion toward the other half-frame and about a peripheral edge of the translucent panel. Fasteners couple the half-frames and secure the half-frames in the support opening.Type: GrantFiled: January 11, 1996Date of Patent: July 8, 1997Assignee: General Products Company, Inc.Inventor: H. Patent number: 5345722Abstract: An adjustable door frame includes a latch jamb, a hinge jamb, two closure jambs, a base header and a closure header, each of which is unitarily formed. The jambs and headers are adjustably connected to accommodate variations in wall thicknesses. Each of the hatch jamb, hinge jamb and base header has a trim section overlying the wall, an inside section extending into the doorway opening, a door abutment section extending perpendicularly into the doorway and a pair of parallel flanges extending perpendicularly from the abutment section and defining a slot. Each of the closure jambs and closure header has a trim section for overlying the opposite wall surface, an inside section extending into the doorway and a tongue section. The slots frictionally engage the tongue sections.Type: GrantFiled: February 18, 1993Date of Patent: September 13, 1994Assignee: General Products Company, Inc.Inventor: H. Smith McKann

Patent number: 4896458Abstract: A door is formed by latch and hinge panels which can be attached without fasteners or welding. Each of the panels is formed of a unitary piece of sheet metal and includes a rectangular face member, a side flange extending substantially perpendicularly from the face member along one of its side edges, a first latch formed along a free lateral edge of the side flange remote from the face member, a second latch formed along the opposite side edge of the face member and end flanges extending substantially perpendicularly from the face member along the end edges. The first latch of each panel is secured to the second latch of the other panel such that the panels are secured and form the door, with latches being located at diametrically opposite corners of the door. An insulating core member is located between the panels.Type: GrantFiled: April 10, 1989Date of Patent: January 30, 1990Assignee: General Products Company, Inc.Inventors: H. Smith McKann, Wendel W.
