  • Patent number: 8511351
Abstract: A fuel delivery system of an aircraft refueling vehicle that is configured to distribute fuel from a hydrant pit valve at an airport. The fuel delivery system includes a first hose including a coupler that is configured to be fluidly connected to a hydrant pit valve at an airport to receive fuel from the hydrant pit valve. A fuel passageway is fluidly coupled to the first hose. An on-board fuel tank is fluidly coupled to the fuel passageway. A second hose is fluidly coupled to the fuel passageway. The second hose includes a nozzle that is configured to be coupled to a refueling point on an aircraft to distribute fuel into a fuel tank of an aircraft. A valve is coupled to the fuel passageway to control the flow of fuel to and from the aircraft refueling vehicle.

  • Patent number: 6324840
Abstract: A portable fueling control system is provided for delivering bulk fuel to a vehicle from a pressurized source. The portable system includes a fluid driven power source for operating auxiliary instrumentation of the system. An inlet receives the bulk fuel from the pressurized source. The inlet has a primary fluid path and a secondary fluid path. A first flow rate control is in fluidic communication with the primary fluid path for adjustably controlling the flow rate of bulk fuel from the pressurized source to a system outlet. A first monitor is operably linked to the secondary fluid path and the first flow rate control. The first monitor is responsive to the flow rate of the secondary fluid path for actuating the first flow rate control to vary the pressure difference across the first flow rate control.

  • Patent number: 6082392
Abstract: A hose assembly is provided for transmitting liquid fuel between the fuel tank of a highway truck and the fuel tank of an airport refueler. The assembly comprises inner and outer hoses. The inner hose transmits liquid fuel. A sealed passage is formed between the inner and outer hoses. Each end of the hose assembly is connected to a respective port for transferring the fuel between the highway truck fuel tank and airport refueler tank. The assembly includes at least one sensor port for connecting the passage to sensing means to detect leakage from the inner hose to the passage. A leakage sensing system is coupled to the sensor port for detecting leakage of fuel from the inner hose to the passage and for generating sensor signals. The leakage sensing system includes: (1) a pressure sensor for detecting a change in pressure within the passage, and (2) a liquid sensor for detecting the presence of liquid within the passage.

  • Patent number: 5957148
Abstract: A main valve receives fluid at an inlet and transmits the fluid to an outlet. The main valve has a rear face. A surge control servo valve responds to a load sense signal and moves between a closed position and an open position in which the fluid is transmitted from the inlet to the rear face of the main valve, to close the main valve. A deadman control mechanism responds to a pneumatic control signal and actuates the surge control servo to the closed position when the load sense signal is less than a threshold value. The deadman control mechanism includes: a pneumatically operated piston, separate and distinct from the surge control servo, and a member connected to the piston for engaging the surge control servo within an atmospherically vented chamber. Also, a bypass valve system comprises a main valve for receiving fluid at an inlet and transmitting the fluid to tank.

  • Patent number: 4886282
Abstract: A hydrant refueler for aircraft is provided with a plurality of decks each at a different fixed height above ground to enable the refueler operator to connect to the fuel tanks of aircraft having wings at different heights above ground. The uppermost deck is provided with foldable side guard railings which when lowered will permit the refueler vehicle to clear the wing of a low wing aircraft and which when raised will provide necessary safety protection to a refueler operator as he services a high wing aircraft. A rigid cross bar guard is provided at at least one end of the foldable side guard railings.
