Patent number: 8151981Abstract: The present invention is related to an apparatus to facilitate the retrieval of a personal device from a compartment or pocket. The apparatus has a back surface with a support attached to the back surface in a manner that allows the support to move and a tab or loop on one end of the support. An elastic tape is attached to the back surface and to the support. Also attached to the support is a ribbon which is secured to the elastic tape at a connection point. The support can be extended to retrieve the personal device from the compartment or pocket which stretches the elastic tape and the ribbon until the ribbon is fully extended preventing the further extension of the support. The elastic tape may then facilitate the retraction of the apparatus into the compartment or pocket.Type: GrantFiled: March 16, 2009Date of Patent: April 10, 2012Assignee: Genesco, Inc.Inventor: Mark Nordstrom

Publication number: 20090139114Abstract: The present invention is related to an article of footwear that has an upper extending around at least a portion of a foot. The outsole is secured to the upper. The article of footwear has a midsole that is detachably secured to the outsole. This midsole has a vertically projecting generally dome shaped support element located in the heel portion of the midsole. The dome shaped support element may be in contact with outsole interior sidewalls only while in an compressed state or it may remain in contact with the interior sidewalls in an uncompressed state. The dome shaped support element is at least partially covered by a cushioning cover that is made of a material less stiff than the material comprising the dome shaped support element. The cushioning cover may be partially covered by a heel plate that extends from the heel of the shoe towards the toe of the shoe. The heel plate may or may not extend the entire length of the shoe.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 2, 2008Publication date: June 4, 2009Applicant: Genesco, Inc.Inventor: David Malek

Patent number: 4942679Abstract: A styled shoe construction designed for comfort including a flexible, durable, synthetic outsole member having a narrow heel or tongue portion received in the recess of a styled leather heel. The shoe construction further includes a synthetic fiberboard insole member in which its backpart area is substantially rigid while its forepart area is substantially flexible, is lightweight, breathable, and water-absorptive, and is cement-lasted between the inturned marginal edges of a styled leather upper and the top surfaces of the marginal edges of the outsole member and heel. A highly resilient elongated urethane foam bottom filler is received within the cavity between the insole member and the outsole member, and a heel cushion member preferably of the same material as the bottom filler is secured to the top backpart surface of the insole member.Type: GrantFiled: February 21, 1989Date of Patent: July 24, 1990Assignee: Genesco, Inc.Inventors: Michael D. Patent number: 4182055Abstract: A shoe construction including a pre-formed unitary sole member made from a flexible, resilient material and including a concave top face pre-shaped to fit the bottom of the wearer's foot. The outer marginal portion of the bottom face of the sole member is recessed to form a stitching land for securing the sole member directly to the forepart lower marginal portion of the shoe upper. A soft, resilient sole filler member may be secured to the top face of the sole member, with the rear portion of the sole filler member being secured to the front portion of the shank tuck.Type: GrantFiled: October 13, 1977Date of Patent: January 8, 1980Assignee: Genesco, Inc.Inventor: Newton C. Patent number: 4127135Abstract: An improved brassiere is provided having two breast receiving cups, the lower adjacent corners of which overlap in securing the bottom edges of the cups to a bottom edge casing of the bra. The adjacent side edges of the cups cross one over the other forming a surplice neckline. Attached to the side edge of one cup at approximately the point where the cup side edges cross and to the bottom edge casing of the bra is a strip of material, which overlaps the side edge and bottom corner of the other cup, whereby the cups are substantially independent of each other.Type: GrantFiled: November 10, 1976Date of Patent: November 28, 1978Assignee: Genesco, Inc.Inventor: Erica Stern

Patent number: 4084279Abstract: A shoe construction including an upper member preferably divided into two pieces, an upper and a mudguard piece in which the mudguard piece has a pair of depending side portions extending beneath the upper and joined along longitudinal abutting edges between the heel portion and the forepart of the upper member. The method of making this shoe includes slip-lasting the upper member after the upper and the mudguard piece have been secured together, and after the bottom edges of the mudguard piece have been secured. Thus, lasting is facilitated, because only the forepart and heel portions of the upper member need be lasted. Moreover, less attention is required for fitting the upper member about the last since the shape and fit has been substantially determined by pre-securing the bottom edges of the depending mudguard side portions.Type: GrantFiled: January 5, 1977Date of Patent: April 18, 1978Assignee: Genesco, Inc.Inventor: Newton C. Turner, Jr.

Patent number: 4001954Abstract: A shoe construction including an upper having a forepart marginal flange secured to the corresponding marginal portion of the forepart of an insole, and an elongated binding tape extending the length of the periphery of the forepart of the shoe folded over and secured to the flange and the bottom face of the marginal portion of the insole to provide a welt-look. The shoe also preferably includes a padded member secured to the upper face of the forepart of the insole by a cover sheet, the margins of which are secured to the marginal portion of the insole and between the insole and the flange of the upper.Type: GrantFiled: May 19, 1975Date of Patent: January 11, 1977Assignee: Genesco, Inc.Inventor: Kennedy G.
