Abstract: The present disclosure relates to methods and systems for identifying a categorization of a vehicle depicted in an input image. Using a neural network, a feature vector of a vehicle is generated based on an input image. An orientation of the vehicle is determined based on the input image. A set of reference vectors is selected from a library of reference vectors based on the orientation of the vehicle. At least one close match reference vector is identified by comparing the feature vector of the vehicle to a plurality of reference vectors, including at least said set of selected reference vectors. An indication of the categorization of the vehicle is output based on the at least one close match reference vector.

Abstract: A method of operating a computing apparatus communicatively coupled to a set of one or more cameras. The method includes monitoring a resource consumption mode of operation each of the cameras and changing the resource consumption mode of operation of one or more target cameras in the set of one or more cameras from a first resource consumption mode of operation to a second resource consumption mode of operation. The first and second resource consumption modes of operation are respectively a low and a high resource consumption mode of operation. The resource may be power or data utilized by the cameras. The target cameras are selected based on an event characteristic detected by the computing apparatus. The method may be carried out by a processor of a computing apparatus. A non-transitory computer readable medium may store instructions for causing the processor of the computing apparatus carry out the method.

Abstract: A method and an apparatus for identifying sensitive information identifier in a privacy-protection manner are provided. The method is performed at a first computing entity which is configured to access a set of license plate numbers and to communicate with a second computing entity which is configured to obtain a license plate number that is captured by one of one or more license plate recognition (LPR) devices distributed in a certain geographic area. The method comprises: receiving a first hash value of the license plate number from the second computing entity; determining that the first hash value matches a second hash value of a plurality of hash values in an association relationship; and generating a notification of an identified license plate number. The association relationship maps a respective one of the plurality of hash values to a corresponding license plate number in the set of license plate numbers.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to systems, methods, and apparatuses for correcting a camera configuration used in fixed-position surveillance. A video stream generated by the surveillance camera is obtained. A pattern present in pixel data of a frame of the video stream is analyzed to derive an initial orientation setting of the surveillance camera. An orientation delta between the initial orientation setting of the surveillance camera and a desired orientation setting for the surveillance camera is determined based on the analyzing of the pattern present in the pixel data of the frame. A configuration change for the surveillance camera is generated. The configuration change is provided to the surveillance camera to cause the surveillance camera to update the initial orientation setting of the surveillance camera.

Abstract: A method for execution in a central controller comprises obtaining an interconnection topology for a plurality of nodes interconnected via hybrid data/power links; obtaining a power distribution map associated with the topology; and causing DC power to be distributed to the nodes via the links according to the power distribution map. Also, such a node in which there is at least one power-receiving port and at least one power-transmitting port, a controller and power switching circuitry. The controller operates based on power drawn from a portion of the DC power received via the power-receiving port. The controller determines a destination of data packets received via any of the ports and outputting those of the received data packets that are not destined for the network device via another one of the ports. The controller also causes the power switching circuitry to output via plural power-transmitting ports respective portions of the received DC power received at the power-receiving port.

Abstract: Methods and systems for enrolling a camera into a video surveillance system are described herein. A display of a mobile device may be used to display visual information indicative of enrollment information for enrolling the camera into the video surveillance system. The camera reads the visual information to obtain the enrollment information. The camera transmits an enrollment request to a server of the video surveillance system based on the enrollment information. The server enrolls the camera into the video surveillance system based on the enrollment request. The methods and systems described herein may be used for enrolling any suitable networked device into a system.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method, a device, and a computer readable storage medium are disclosed to enable the definition of rules for identifying occurrences of situations in a security system. The method is performed at an electronic device with access to a user interface. The method includes: obtaining indicia; accessing one or more information sources to retrieve contextual information based on the indicia; exposing, via the user interface, one or more condition-related user-selectable user interface elements; generating a rule for identifying occurrences of a situation based on one or more respective conditions corresponding to a selected subset of the one or more condition-related user-selectable user interface elements; and storing the rule in a rule database for use in monitoring for occurrences of the situation.

A video timeline associated with the video feed is displayed in a second region of the user interface. At least one user interface element is superimposed on at least the video timeline and is indicative of occurrence of at least one event associated with the video feed, a position of the at least one user interface element on the video timeline corresponding to a time of occurrence of the at least one event.

Abstract: A plurality of intermediary devices may be interposed in a hybrid data/power connection between a power source and a powered device. In one aspect, the intermediary devices may be connected in series. Such connecting may be referred to as “daisy chaining.” In other aspects, the intermediary devices may be connected in a tree or a mesh. Each intermediary device may be configured to consume, for its own use, power that is supplied over the hybrid data/power connection and to deliver remaining power over the hybrid data/power connection to at least one other device. Furthermore, each intermediary device may be configured to independently route data and power to downstream devices.
