Abstract: The invention relates to methods to select animals, such as mammals, particularly domestic animals such as breeding animals or animals destined for slaughter for having desired genotypic or potential phenotypic properties, in particular related to muscle mass and/or fat deposition lean meat, lean back fat, sow prolificacy and/or sow longevity. Provided is a method for selecting an animal for having desired genotypic or potential phenotypic properties comprising testing said animal, a parent of said animal or its progeny for the presence of a nucleic acid modification affecting the activity of an evolutionary conserved CpG island, located in intron 3 of an IGF2 gene and/or for the presence of a nucleic acid modification affecting binding of a nuclear factor to an IGF2 gene.

Abstract: The invention relates to methods to select animals, such as mammals, in particular, domestic animals such as breeding animals or animals destined for slaughter, for having desired genotypic or potential phenotypic properties, in particular, related to muscle mass and/or fat deposition or, in the case of mammals, to teat number. The invention provides a method for selecting an animal for having desired genotypic or potential phenotypic properties comprising testing the animal, a parent of the animal or its progeny for the presence of a nucleic acid modification affecting the activity of an evolutionary conserved CpG island, located in intron 3 of an IGF2 gene and/or for the presence of a nucleic acid modification affecting binding of a nuclear factor to an IGF2 gene.

Abstract: In order to supply a combustion installation, such as an internal combustion engine, with a second type of fuel, in particular LPG, in addition to a first type of fuel, such as petrol, a second control unit is coupled to a first or original electronic control unit of the engine. In response to first control signal values emitted by the first control unit, said second control unit, during operation on LPG, emits second control signal values for metering the LPG supply. With this arrangement the first control signal values received from the first control unit are compared with the values recorded by the second control unit during operation on petrol. The second control signal values emitted by the second control unit are now so adusted that, during operation on LPG, the first control signal values are still kept within a predetermined range (operating range) of the first control signal values recorded during operation on petrol.

Abstract: Radial pump with a rotary shaft (4) on which an eccentric (6) is fitted. A sleeve (8) to which a plurality of pistons (12) is connected is fitted rotatably on the eccentric (6). The connection between the sleeve (8) and the pistons (12) is achieved by a part made of elastically deformable material (9) which is fitted around the sleeve (8). A controlled opening and closing movement of the pistons is thus obtained through rotation of the pump shaft (4). More than one series of pistons can be fitted around the shaft.
