Abstract: A paint tray accessory and assembly provides a membrane cover for use with a paint tray and paint roller of conventional manufacture. The membrane cover comprises a first frame member, a second frame member and a fluid regulating membrane. The membrane is flexible and stretchable which provides means for more evenly coating the sleeve of a paint roller during use of the assembly. The membrane also provides a tractive surface for the paint roller sleeve. The frame members are configured to retain the membrane within the frame members and to protect the membrane during use. The first frame member is intended to remain in position while the second frame member is flexibly rotatable relative to the first frame member at the points of certain “breaks” between the two frame members, also considered a “hinged” point.

Abstract: Various paint applicator pads are disclosed. These include a pad with a tapered edge for applying paint, and those having a generally convex body with a stiff backing portion. These pads include those with two layers of different porosity foams. Preferably, these pads are rotary pads for use with a spindle.

Abstract: A number of forms of painting trays and accessories are disclosed. These include a paint tray having an upper or intermediate foam pad across the top thereof to prevent spillage. The paint will only flow through the foam at a very slow speed. One embodiment is disclosed wherein the paint tray includes a cover and has a plurality of variable porosity pads. Another unit includes a round tray, a round pad, and a round applicator unit. Several painting accessories are described, including a painting pad having a plurality of wells therein as well as being made from a porous, sponge-like material.

Abstract: A paint edger apparatus adapted to afford close control over the location of a hard paint edge applied to a surface. The apparatus includes a grasping handle, a rotary guide disc and a rotary paint applicator pad. The centers of rotation of the guide disc and the paint applicator pad are offset from each other. In the preferred form, the handle is formed so as to provide first and second, offset spindles, and the handle includes a backing plate axially adjacent the guide disc. Rotating the handle about its own axis varies the position of the pad relative to the outer edge of the guide disc, and enables the paint pad edge to be moved closer to or farther from a guide surface engaged by the guide disc to precisely position the paint edge.
