  • Patent number: 11679384
Abstract: Embodiments are directed towards methods and systems of depositing a uniform test-pathogen mixture onto a test article for testing the sterilization efficacy of an electromagnetic radiation or other sterilization process. The system includes a holding mechanism configured to removably secure the test article to the system. The system also includes a test-pathogen dispenser configured to uniformly deposit the test-pathogen mixture onto a reference surface of the test article. The system is structured so that at least one of the test article and the test-pathogen dispenser moves relative to the other. A plurality of test-pathogen mixture droplets or lines is deposited onto the reference surface in a predetermined test-pathogen pattern, such as, for example, a plurality of rows and columns of droplets. A distance from a dispenser tip of the test-pathogen dispenser to the reference surface of the test article may be determined to help maintain consistency between test-pathogen mixture droplets or lines.

  • Patent number: 11660360
Abstract: The invention concerns a disinfection device includes a disinfection chamber having an interior volume and a radiation source coupled to the interior volume. The radiation source is arranged to emit disinfecting radiation into the interior volume when in operation. A disinfection program in the disinfection chamber is arranged to control the radiation source to emit the disinfecting radiation according to parameters determined based on at least one of a three dimensional model of the disinfection chamber and a three dimensional model of a target article to be disinfected. The three dimensional model of the disinfection chamber is formed using data collected by operating at least one radiation source in a data collection disinfection chamber, or by providing a disinfection chamber model having a virtual interior volume. The three dimensional model of the target article to be disinfected is formed by providing a target article model having a virtual surface.

  • Patent number: 10111976
Abstract: A disinfection device includes a disinfection chamber into which a radiation source emits ultraviolet-C (UV-C) radiation. A radiation sensor detects the amount of UV-C radiation within the disinfection chamber, and a temperature sensor produces temperature values of a temperature within the disinfection chamber. A processing unit generates accumulated UV-C radiation values and verifies that the accumulated UV-C radiation value in the disinfection chamber reaches a first radiation threshold while also verifying that the temperature in the disinfection chamber stays below a first temperature threshold. The UV-C radiation may be emitted into the disinfection chamber over one or more fixed periods of time while the total time for the disinfection process is limited to a primary time interval. The process may terminate successfully if the first radiation threshold is exceeded before the primary time interval expires.
