  • Patent number: 5609056
Abstract: A swaging machine is provided with connecting rod-like swaging hammers, which are driven by eccentrics and radially guided in a machine frame with respect to the axis of the eccentric shaft and for a driving connection are provided at that end which faces the eccentric with a sliding surface in sliding contact with a slide ring that surrounds and is rotatably mounted on the eccentric. A particularly simple design of the machine is achieved in that radially inner end of the hammer and the slide ring are merely non-positively coupled and a compression spring means supported against the machine frame apply pressure to the swaging hammer and urge the sliding surface at the radially inner end of the hammer against the slide ring.

  • Patent number: 5327754
Abstract: In controlling the passage of rolled stock under little longitudinal tensile stress through a continuous rolling mill by secondary-controlled hydrostatic drives for the individual rolling stands, the rotary speeds of the hydromotors associated with the drives are controlled by adjusting their displacement volumes. To obtain a rational and dependable control method, at the beginning of the passage of the stock, all but one of the rotary speed controls for the hydromotors belonging to the stands through which the stock has passed and the stand through which the stock passes next as the passage of the stock through the stands proceeds are consecutively interrupted during the consecutive passing of the stock through the rolling stands and, therefore, at any time only the hydromotor of one of the stands, the guiding stand, is operated with an adjustable displacement volume for controlling the rotary speed at least as long as the stock passes through all the stands.

  • Patent number: 5301587
Abstract: Method of cutting a three-dimensional shaped piece of a material having large pores out of a block by trimming the block with adjacent cuts of a predetermined width guided along planes extending tangentially to the surface of the shaped piece whereby scrap of the material is produced, and cutting kerfs into the scrap no later than the trimming along planes extending radially relative to the shaped piece surface and longitudinally substantially parallel to each other, the cutting planes being spaced from each other at the shaped piece surface a maximum distance corresponding to the predetermined width of the adjacent cuts. For this purpose, an ultrasound assembly may be used, which comprises a knife which has a shaft portion extending in the direction of vibration of the knife and a cutting portion attached to the shaft portion and extending transversely to the direction of vibration, the shaft portion and the cutting portion having cutting edges.

  • Patent number: 4215604
Abstract: A steady is coupled to a longitudinal slide and comprises a driven chuck. A milling tool is carried by a tool slide, which is slidably mounted on the longitudinal slide for a transverse movement derived from the rotation of the workpiece. To prevent a sagging or twisting of the workpiece or inaccuracies resulting from thermal expansion and also to eliminate the need for complicated driven chucks in workpiece carriers and to enable a milling of cross-sections to very close tolerances, two workpiece carriers are provided with non-driven workpiece supports whereas drive means for rotating the workpiece are associated only with the chuck of the steady. The control of the transverse movement of the tool slide is derived from the rotation of the chuck or of the means for rotating the same.
