  • Patent number: 9091268
Abstract: A multi-staged screw compressor system includes a gearbox, a drive gear located in the gearbox, and a first, second and third screw compressor that are fastened to the gearbox and coupled to the drive gear such that the first, second, and third screw compressors are all driven in common by the drive gear. During operation the first screw compressor compresses a flow of gaseous fluid from an inlet pressure to a first intermediate pressure, the second screw compressor compresses the flow of fluid from the first intermediate pressure to a second intermediate pressure, and the third screw compressor compresses the flow of fluid from the second intermediate pressure to a final pressure. The final pressure is at least thirty times the inlet pressure.

  • Patent number: 8342829
Abstract: The invention relates to a multi step helical screw compressor unit which consists of a drive housing (90), wherein a first, second, and third helical screw compressor (60, 70, 80) are secured in a protruding manner parallel to each other and are driven together by a drive toothed wheel in the drive housing. A gas-like fluid is compressed by the first helical screw compressor (60) at a first intermediate pressure of approximately 3.5 bars, by the second helical screw compressor (70) at a second intermediate pressure of approximately 12 bars and by the third helical screw compressor (80) at an end pressure of approximately 40 bars. The driven toothed wheels (65, 75) of the first and the second helical screw compressors are in contact with the drive toothed wheel (95) above the axes thereof, when the driven toothed wheel (85) of the third helical screw compressor (80) is in contact with the drive toothed wheel (95) in the vicinity of the deepest point thereof (T).

  • Patent number: 7690901
Abstract: A screw compressor rotor housing is surrounded by a cooling housing that forms an annular cooling chamber. The cooling chamber is interrupted at one point by a separating wall that connects the rotor housing to the cooling housing. Coolant is fed at an inlet opening and is directed at the bottom side of the separating wall by an entrance channel, is redirected, and flows around the rotor housing until it reaches the top side of the separating wall. The coolant is redirected and is withdrawn through an exit channel that runs upward to the outlet opening. A bleed opening in the wall of the entrance channel and a vent opening in the wall of the exit channel allow for a residual amount of air to remain in the cooling chamber when it is filled with coolant, and for a residual fluid to remain when it is emptied.

  • Publication number: 20090004036
Abstract: A screw compressor with two rotors held in a rotor housing has sealing arrangements 11, 11? to seal the pressurized side shaft pin of the rotors, wherein each sealing arrangement has a number of successive radial seal rings 11a, 11b and wherein it contains an annular relief chamber 51 at an intermediate position that is connected by means of a vent channel 53 to a chamber in the rotor housing in which a pressure is present that is higher than atmospheric pressure. It is preferred that the vent channel be connected to the intake chamber 10 of the rotor housing 1 and that this intake chamber be fed by a gas that is pre-compressed by a compressor stage.

  • Publication number: 20080286138
Abstract: The invention relates to the rotor housing (1) of a helical screw compressor which is surrounded by a cooling housing (21, 23, 25) which forms a cooling chamber (27) which surrounds the rotor housing (1) in an annular-shaped manner, said cooling chamber being intercepted on a point by a separating wall (29) which connects the rotor housing (1) to the cooling housing (21). The coolant, which is guided to an inlet (31), is oriented counter to the lower side of the separating wall (29) through a perpendicular inlet channel (35) which flows in an upward direction, is deviated there and flows about the rotor housing (1) until the upper side of the separating wall (29), where it is deviated again and is discharged to the outlet opening (33) through a perpendicular outlet channel (37) which extends in an upward manner.

  • Publication number: 20080286129
Abstract: The invention relates to a helical screw compressor which comprises two rotors (7, 9) having ribs (7?, 9) which extend a screw-like manner and grooves which engage with each other in a combing and sealing manner. The total number of ribs of both rotors is at least 14, and the height (H) of the grooves is no more than 0.15 times the external diameter (Da) of the rotor profile (7) and/or (9). The shaft journals of the rotors have a diameter which is not smaller than half of the external diameter (Da) of the rotor profile.

  • Patent number: 6991440
Abstract: A two-stage screw compressor has two compressor stages whose rotor housings are arranged with their axes parallel to one another and are enclosed by a common coolant housing at a distance. A coolant inlet and a coolant outlet are located at the common coolant housing, as well as guide walls such that the coolant flowing through the coolant housing flows around and cools the rotor housings of the two compressor stages one after the other in an S-shaped flow path.

  • Patent number: 6488488
Abstract: The drive gear 19, 21 and the synchronizing gear 25, 27 for the two rotors 9,11 of a screw compressor are both located at the pressurized end of the rotor housing 3. At the suction end of the rotor housing 3 is only the bearing 53 for the suction side shaft journal 55, 57 that is free of oil lubrication. Inlet openings 13 in a suction side inlet housing are located in such a way that the intake air cools the oil-free shaft bearing 53. Each shaft journal has a tool interface 63 accessible through the inlet housing on which to attach a rotating tool. The inlet housing 4 can be removed from the shaft journal 55, 57 together with the bearing 53 and seal 87, for example to exchange the bearing, without having to remove the rotors 9, 11 or without throwing off their adjustment.
