Patent number: 8342829Abstract: The invention relates to a multi step helical screw compressor unit which consists of a drive housing (90), wherein a first, second, and third helical screw compressor (60, 70, 80) are secured in a protruding manner parallel to each other and are driven together by a drive toothed wheel in the drive housing. A gas-like fluid is compressed by the first helical screw compressor (60) at a first intermediate pressure of approximately 3.5 bars, by the second helical screw compressor (70) at a second intermediate pressure of approximately 12 bars and by the third helical screw compressor (80) at an end pressure of approximately 40 bars. The driven toothed wheels (65, 75) of the first and the second helical screw compressors are in contact with the drive toothed wheel (95) above the axes thereof, when the driven toothed wheel (85) of the third helical screw compressor (80) is in contact with the drive toothed wheel (95) in the vicinity of the deepest point thereof (T).Type: GrantFiled: June 9, 2006Date of Patent: January 1, 2013Assignee: GHH Rand Schraubenkompressoren GmbHInventors: Carsten Achtelik, Dieter Hüttermann, Michael Besseling, Norbert Henning, Jürgen Bringmann, Robert L. Patent number: 7690901Abstract: A screw compressor rotor housing is surrounded by a cooling housing that forms an annular cooling chamber. The cooling chamber is interrupted at one point by a separating wall that connects the rotor housing to the cooling housing. Coolant is fed at an inlet opening and is directed at the bottom side of the separating wall by an entrance channel, is redirected, and flows around the rotor housing until it reaches the top side of the separating wall. The coolant is redirected and is withdrawn through an exit channel that runs upward to the outlet opening. A bleed opening in the wall of the entrance channel and a vent opening in the wall of the exit channel allow for a residual amount of air to remain in the cooling chamber when it is filled with coolant, and for a residual fluid to remain when it is emptied.Type: GrantFiled: June 9, 2006Date of Patent: April 6, 2010Assignee: GHH Rand Schraubenkompressoren GmbHInventors: Carsten Achtelik, Dieter Hüttermann, Michael Besseling, Norbert Henning

Patent number: 6488488Abstract: The drive gear 19, 21 and the synchronizing gear 25, 27 for the two rotors 9,11 of a screw compressor are both located at the pressurized end of the rotor housing 3. At the suction end of the rotor housing 3 is only the bearing 53 for the suction side shaft journal 55, 57 that is free of oil lubrication. Inlet openings 13 in a suction side inlet housing are located in such a way that the intake air cools the oil-free shaft bearing 53. Each shaft journal has a tool interface 63 accessible through the inlet housing on which to attach a rotating tool. The inlet housing 4 can be removed from the shaft journal 55, 57 together with the bearing 53 and seal 87, for example to exchange the bearing, without having to remove the rotors 9, 11 or without throwing off their adjustment.Type: GrantFiled: September 10, 2001Date of Patent: December 3, 2002Assignee: GHH-Rand Schraubenkompressoren GmbHInventors: Carsten Achtelik, Karl-Heinz Gilfert, Arno Heinz, Walter Murmann
