Then the web server (72) responds (1030; 1260) to the data request message by sending a data provision message which comprises the requested data. For this purpose, the web server (72) either reads out the data from a non-volatile memory (62) of the data carrier or obtains these, if the data are not stored in the non-volatile memory (62), from a data provision device (200) connected with the data carrier (10).

Abstract: A method is proposed for acquiring a service sold over a data network (20) against presentation of a transaction medium (2). The service is ordered by a user (1) by a user end system (10) from a service provider (40). The latter calls in a clearing center (30) which enters into a data exchange with the transaction medium (2) to call for therefrom a necessary contribution in the form of certain data assumed for acquisition of the service. The ordering process and the data exchange with the transaction medium (2) for calling for the contribution are linked via an identifier (KM) associated with the transaction medium (2), the identifier being determined by the user end system (10) and used to secure the ordering process and the call for the contribution.

Abstract: A method for detecting color transitions in at least one portion of a document of value by determining for each image elements whether color coordinate values in the color space that are allocated to the image element correspond to a reference color distribution, which is given by at least one predetermined, closed reference surface in the color space, that is given by at least one linear segment predetermined for the document of value and a predetermined distance of the points of the reference surface from the at least one linear segment. The method further has the steps comparing the positions of the image elements whose color coordinate values are disposed inside or outside of the reference surface to predetermined reference positions on the document of value and detecting in dependence on the result of the comparison a presence or an absence of a color transition caused by soiling or color wear.

Abstract: A method for generating a digital image of at least a portion of a value document, comprises transporting the portion of the value document in a specified transport direction at a specified speed, capturing pixel regions, and generating capture pixel data allocated to integration intervals. The capture pixel data of at least one of the sequences of capture pixel data are corrected. This reduces the influences of the movement of the value document in the transport direction during the capture of capture pixel data.

Abstract: Described is an apparatus for inserting one or more value documents and to a device for accepting or processing value documents having such an apparatus. The solution of the problem is based on an apparatus for inserting one or more value documents, including an insertion apparatus for inserting the individual value document or several value documents and a separator connected to the insertion apparatus for detecting one value document at a time. The insertion apparatus includes at least two parts connected to each other in a movable manner, wherein the first part in a first position forms a continuous supporting surface together with the second part for inserting several securities, and wherein the first part in a second position for inserting an individual security is removed from the area of the supporting surface.

Abstract: A method and a data carrier for contactless, in particular parallel, communication of a reading device with at least two communication-ready applications located on a portable data carrier. A first communication-readiness signal is generated for a first application and sent to the reading device, the signal having a first identification number that is assigned to the first application and indicates to the reading device the communication readiness of said first application, and a second communication-readiness signal is generated and sent for a second application, the second signal having a second identification number different from the first identification number, which is assigned to said second application and indicates to the reading device the communication readiness of said second application. The identification numbers simulate for the reading device the communication readiness of a data carrier in each case.

Abstract: A method for manufacturing a security feature for a security element, a security paper or a data carrier that exhibits a substrate into which at least one through opening and at least one marking in registration with the through opening are to be introduced. The method includes the steps of providing a substrate with a laser-modifiable marking substance at least in the region of the marking to be produced and, in the same operation, introducing at least one through opening into the substrate by the action of laser radiation at higher laser power and modifying the laser-modifiable marking substance in the marking region by the action of laser radiation at a lower laser power to produce at least one marking in registration with the through opening.

Abstract: A security feature for protecting valuable documents, in particular for ensuring the authenticity of valuable documents, comprises a luminescent pigment which has a host lattice doped with a first luminophore and a second luminophore, with an excitation energy of the first luminophore being transferable to the second luminophore. However, in the case of the luminescent pigment according to the invention, the excitation energy is not transferred completely from the first luminophore to the second, but rather only partially. The incomplete transfer of the excitation energy is achieved by selecting suitable amount-of-substance fractions of the first and the second luminophores on the luminescent pigment. As a result of the incomplete transfer of the excitation energy, the luminescent light that is emitted by the luminescent pigment also has, in addition to a luminescence peak of the second luminophore, a luminescence peak of the first luminophore.

Abstract: In a portable data carrier having a non-volatile memory, a memory controller and a memory interface, an effected initial operation of the data carrier is checked through a request to a security unit of the data carrier via a security interface connected to the security unit. For this purpose, the data carrier comprises a memory portion comprising the memory interface and a body portion comprising the security interface, which are interconnected such that the memory portion can be folded out of the body portion, so that simultaneously the memory interface is laid open for a connection to an end device and the electrical connection between the security unit and the security interface is disconnected irreversibly.

Abstract: The sheet compartments of a stacking wheel of a stacking device, as used in sheet goods processing devices, in particular in banknote processing machines and automated money deposit and/or withdrawal machines, have a wavy contour. The braking effect on the banknotes fed into the sheet compartments is thereby increased, so that the banknotes can be fed into the sheet compartments at increased speed without being damaged.

Abstract: In an apparatus for singling sheet material, multiple picks are avoided by a retaining device ensuring that sheet material entrained with the sheet to be singled is retained not only on one side but also on the other side of the sheet to be singled. While the first retaining device is located opposite a singling gap of the singling device and is continually effective, the second retaining device acts before, or in, the singling gap from the other side of the singling gap and is only activated after the sheet to be singled is reliably grasped by the singling device, and deactivated when it has left the singling gap.

Abstract: A method carries out a soiling check of the measurement window of a measuring device for checking sheet material. A measuring device carries out the method. A device for processing a sheet material comprises the measuring device. The soiling check uses, only areas of the measurement window which correspond, in terms of width and position in the beam path of a light, to the areas of the checked sheet material which are checked during the checking of the sheet material. As a result, fewer cleaning steps are needed for the measurement window.

Abstract: A micro-optical inspection arrangement comprises micro-focusing elements which are composite bodies consisting of a main part and an additional part and which have a reference focal length. The main parts are provided as micro-focusing element preforms, and the additional parts are formed from one or more functional coatings. The invention also relates to a method for producing such a micro-optical inspection arrangement and to a micro-optical displaying arrangement comprising the micro-optical inspection arrangement according to the invention and a microstructure arrangement, in particular a moiré magnification arrangement and a modulo magnification arrangement. The invention also relates to security elements and data carriers that have the micro-optical inspection arrangement according to the invention.

Abstract: In a method in a portable data carrier for securing the data carrier against external attacks on the data carrier, there is employed at least one counter in the data carrier. A specified command is secured here such that it is executed by the data carrier only when the at least one counter lies in a specified, permissible values range, in particular does not undershoot a specified minimum value. The at least one counter is actuated, normally decremented, according to the invention when it is recognized on the basis of a rollback buffer of the data carrier that a preceding execution of a command has been disturbed.

Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus for processing bank notes, in particular a compensation unit for adapting the bank-note stock of a recycling apparatus. In recycling apparatus standing in the cash offices of retailers a lack of bank notes of small denominations occurs quickly. In order to render the filling and emptying of the bank-note stock of recycling apparatus easy and safe, and to extend the time intervals for refilling and emptying recycling apparatus and thereby operate them in an economically sensible fashion, a compensation unit is connected to the recycling apparatus, in which bank notes of certain types are stored. It is possible to both transfer bank notes from the recycling apparatus to the compensation unit and to feed bank notes from the compensation unit to the recycling apparatus.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method and an apparatus for checking documents of value which have a security element with several magnetic areas, including at least one high-coercive magnetic area, at least one low-coercive magnetic area and at least one combined magnetic area which contains both the high-coercive and the low-coercive magnetic material. After the magnetization of all magnetic areas in a first direction, first magnetic signals of the security element are detected with a first magnetic detector. After a subsequent second magnetizing, which is effected antiparallel to the first magnetizing and magnetically reverses only the low-coercive magnetic material, second magnetic signals of the security element are detected. For identifying the magnetic areas, the second magnetic signals or a signal derived therefrom are compared with two thresholds.

Abstract: The invention relates to a security element for protecting documents of value, which has magnetic material. Furthermore, the invention relates to a document of value, a transfer material and method for producing such security elements and documents of value as well as a method and an apparatus for checking such a security element or document of value. According to the invention the security element has at least two magnetic materials, wherein the magnetic materials have different coercive field strengths and are applied onto and/or incorporated in the security element in such a manner that their remanence is equally high.
