    Abstract: A method of delivering a selected fuel product having a selected octane level to an operator from a fuel dispenser including a blend manifold, a fuel nozzle, and a fuel hose extending therebetween, including the steps of determining a first volume of a first fuel that is retained in the fuel hose upon completion of a first fueling event, determining a first octane level of the first volume of the first fuel, determining a second volume of a second fuel having a second octane level, and delivering the first fuel volume and the second fuel volume to the operator during a second fueling event, wherein a total volume of fuel equaling the first volume of the first fuel and the second volume of the second fuel has a total octane level that falls within a predetermined limit of the selected octane level of the selected fuel product.

    Abstract: A fuel dispenser includes a power distribution system having an alternating current (AC) power supply and an AC to direct current (DC) power converter configured to convert a portion of the AC power to DC power for one or more DC peripheral components associated with the fuel dispenser. The power distribution system also includes processing circuitry configured to power down at least one of the DC peripheral components in response to an actuator, cause an indicator to be activated indicating that the DC peripheral components are de-energized and the AC power supply is active, power up the at least one direct current peripheral component in response to the actuator when the direct current peripherals are de-energized, and cause the indicator to be activated to indicate that both the DC peripheral components and the AC power supply are active.

    Abstract: A secure evaluation assembly in which an encrypted communication of cardholder data from an input device to a remote host processing system may be securely evaluated. The secure evaluation assembly includes antitampering control electronics and a memory. The secure evaluation assembly memory contains information needed to decrypt data encrypted according to a first encryption method and information needed to encrypt data according to a second encryption method. Further, the secure evaluation assembly memory is encrypted according to a third encryption method. The antitampering control electronics are operative to decrypt the secure evaluation assembly memory and are further operative to decrypt cardholder data encrypted according to the first encryption method to produce unencrypted cardholder data.

    Abstract: A method of performing a fueling transaction via an application installed on a mobile device, such as a smart phone. One step of the method involves receiving at the mobile device a short range wireless initiation signal directly from a fuel dispenser. The wireless initiation signal contains information indentifying the fuel dispenser. In response to the wireless initiation signal, an application is automatically launched on the mobile device. Input is received into the mobile device from a customer, which is interpreted by the application to correspond to at least one selection made by the customer. Payment information of the customer is transmitted from the mobile device to a remote cloud server so that the transaction can be authorized. As fuel is dispensed from the fuel dispenser, at least one of fueling information and promotional information is received at the mobile device.

A flow control valve and a flow measurement device are located along the fuel piping, the flow measurement device having a housing defining a flow path therethrough. The flow measurement device includes a first exciter for producing a first wave in fuel moving along the flow path. A second exciter produces a second wave in the fuel which passes through the first wave, wherein the second wave has a higher frequency than the first wave. At least one sensor is spaced apart from the first exciter and the second exciter, the at least one sensor being configured to detect at least one measurable characteristic of the second wave from which flow rate can be derived.

    Abstract: Methods and systems provide for detecting tampering of a fuel dispenser. Power is applied to a valve coil of a fuel dispenser. The valve coil is part of a control valve configured to accomplish a gradated fuel flow of the fuel dispenser. Current flowing through the valve coil is measured in response to the power being applied to the valve coil. The current measurements are compared with predetermined criteria and tampering with the valve coil is determined if the current measurements are sufficiently different than expected.

The first controller can establish a secure channel with the other device using encrypted communications. Activation of sensors connected to the PCBs can cause the first and/or second controllers to erase data necessary to ascertain/decode communications from the input device, such as encryption/decryption information, or may otherwise decommission the input device or a portion thereof.

    Abstract: A method of filling a storage vessel with a fuel gas at a fuel dispenser. In various embodiments, the method includes providing a fuel dispenser comprising a housing defining a fluid flow path therein, the fluid flow path operatively connected with a source of the fuel gas. The fuel dispenser includes a control valve disposed along the fluid flow path and a controller in operative electronic communication therewith. The method also includes actuating the control valve to provide a predetermined difference between the pressure of the fuel gas upstream of the control valve and the pressure of the fuel gas downstream of the control valve. The predetermined difference is selected such that the temperature of the fuel gas is reduced to a predetermined temperature after passing through the control valve. The method also includes dispensing the fuel gas into the storage vessel, the fuel gas having first mass flow rate.
