Patent number: 11279602Abstract: A portable lifting jack has a drivable mechanism operating a jack shaft formed of telescoping lifting screws. A microprocessor controls power to selectively turn electric motor to drive the operating mechanism. An in-line current draw sensor senses electric load of the motor and communicates this to the microprocessor. One detected electrical load is an electric load spike indicative that the jack shaft has contacted a mechanical load. A potentiometer connected to the operating mechanism senses extended position of the telescoping lifting screws and communicates this position to the microprocessor, which is programmed to derive when snug contact is achieved with an encountered mechanical load and to pause operation of the electric motor. In a synchronized array of jacks, all are paused to await further operator input, which may be coordinated through a remote control.Type: GrantFiled: December 12, 2019Date of Patent: March 22, 2022Assignee: GILBERT ENGINEERING, LLCInventors: Micky G. Gilbert, Garrett Hoffman, Jonathan Carlisle

Patent number: 6183298Abstract: Cable connector for coaxial cable, comprising a bushing (2) for providing an axial displacement of parts (4, 5, 6, 7, 8) in the connector, whereby these parts are brought into mechanical and/or electrical engagement with the coaxial cable. The axial displacement is provided by screwing a thread (10) provided on the bushing (2) onto a corresponding thread (9) provided in the main body (1) of the connector. The axial displaceable parts in the connector comprising a ferrule (4) for engaging the outer conductor or screen of the coaxial cable, said ferrule (4) comprising a locking arrangement for preventing rotation of the ferrule and cable. The ferrule (4) comprises a conical surface (11) and the main body (1) of the connector comprises a corresponding conical surface (12), said surfaces (11,12) being brought into locking engagement when axially displaced by the bushing (2), whereby the ferrule (4) and cable are prevented from rotating in the connector.Type: GrantFiled: October 13, 1999Date of Patent: February 6, 2001Assignee: Gilbert Engineering Co., Inc.Inventor: Jimmy Ciesla Henningsen

Patent number: 5997350Abstract: A compression type coaxial cable F-connector includes a conventional coupling nut and tubular post. A cylindrical body member is secured to the tubular post and includes a sleeve for receiving the jacket of the coaxial cable. A circular relief in the sleeve allows the end of such sleeve to be deformed inwardly toward the cable jacket. A compression ring is mounted over the outer wall of the sleeve of the cylindrical body member and includes a tapered inner bore which forces the end of the sleeve inwardly against the cable jacket as the compression ring is advanced axially over the cylindrical body member. As the end of the sleeve is deformed inwardly, it extends just behind a circular barb formed about the tubular post to pinch the cable jacket therebetween. The compression ring can be manufactured as a separate component, or the compression ring can initially be integral with the sleeve of the cylindrical body member and attached thereto by a frangible connection.Type: GrantFiled: June 8, 1998Date of Patent: December 7, 1999Assignee: Gilbert Engineering Co., Inc.Inventors: Donald A. Patent number: 5975951Abstract: A coaxial cable F-connector (20) includes a tubular post (32) for insertion around the dielectric (26) of the coaxial cable (22), a cylindrical body member (46) secured to the tubular post for receiving the jacket (30) of the coaxial cable, and a coupling nut (38). The tubular post includes an enlarged shoulder (80) that extends inside the nut; the nut includes an inwardly directed collar (82) that extends around the tubular post and around one end of the cylindrical body member. An O-ring (35) is disposed around one end of the cylindrical body member between the shoulder of the tubular post and the collar of the coupling nut. Limited axial movement of the coupling nut is permitted relative to the tubular post and cylindrical body member for allowing the coupling nut to spin free of the O-ring until tightening of the coupling nut over the threaded port is almost complete. Upon final tightening of the coupling nut, the O-ring forms a seal between the nut, the tubular post, and the cylindrical body member.Type: GrantFiled: June 8, 1998Date of Patent: November 2, 1999Assignee: Gilbert Engineering Co., Inc.Inventors: Donald A. Burris, William B. Lutz, Herman P. Durst

Patent number: 5879191Abstract: An F-connector for terminating the end of a coaxial drop cable includes a tubular post and fastening nut, along with a modified form of body member. The body member outer wall includes a series of annular ridges, and the end of the body member includes a beveled surface. The F-connector includes a collar assembly that incorporates a gripping ring. The collar assembly has a central passage for receiving the end of the coaxial cable. One end of the collar assembly has an internal bore of a diameter commensurate with the outer diameter of the body member; the internal bore also has annular ridges formed thereon which frictionally engage the ridges on the outer wall of the body member. A compression tool longitudinally compresses the collar assembly over the body member during installation, causing the beveled surface of the body member to cam the gripping ring inwardly toward the tubular post, securing the outer jacket and conductive braid of the coaxial cable therebetween.Type: GrantFiled: December 1, 1997Date of Patent: March 9, 1999Assignee: Gilbert Engineering Co, Inc.Inventor: Donald A. Patent number: 5259790Abstract: Improved insulator configurations are provided for retarding corrosion of the central conductor pin of a coaxial cable connector. In a first embodiment of the invention, the distal end of the dielectric which surrounds the pin is provided with a domed protuberance which deflects liquid away from the pin. As a result, there is no surface tension to hold droplets of liquid at the distal end of the connector, and no chance of electrolytic bridging between the conductor pin and the outer body of the connector when the connector extends horizontally through the entry port of a electrical device. In a second embodiment, the dielectric is provided with a tubular extension portion which forms an insulator sheath around the central conductor pin, thus preventing bridging even when the connector is oriented vertically and the distal end of the outer body is submerged in liquid.Type: GrantFiled: February 2, 1990Date of Patent: November 9, 1993Assignee: Gilbert Engineering Co., Inc.Inventor: Robert D. Patent number: 4925403Abstract: There is disclosed, in a coaxial transmission medium connector, a female center conductor element having a tubular male-center-conductor-element-receiving region extending from an open end to a blind end and which is characterized by an inner surface which diverges from a first position proximate the open end to a second position rearwardly toward the blind end in conjunction with a wall thickness which tapers from a maximum value proximate the first position to a less thick region at a second position toward the blind end. With this configuration, electrical contact between a male center conductor element and the female center conductor element of a slightly axially misaligned mating pair will be very nearly diametrically opposed and hence limit signal degradation at the junction.Type: GrantFiled: October 11, 1988Date of Patent: May 15, 1990Assignee: Gilbert Engineering Company, Inc.Inventor: John Zorzy

Patent number: 4681390Abstract: A coaxial cable coupler is disclosed which includes a first section for coupling to the coaxial cable of a utilization device and a second section for coupling to the coaxial cable of a communications system. Both the first and second sections are provided with cavities therein. The cavity in the second section houses an insulating sleeve which in turn encloses a contact assembly for making contact to and electrically connecting the inner conductors of the coaxial cables of the communications system and utilization device. The first cavity is dimensioned and configured to function as a waveguide having a cutoff wavelength which is substantially below the operating wavelength spectrum of the system, thereby establishing a very deep bidirectional high pass filter at the open coupler. As a result, when the utilization device is disconnected, radiation from or to the coupler is prevented to thereby prevent environmental electromagnetic pollution and unauthorized wireless access from and to the system.Type: GrantFiled: July 21, 1986Date of Patent: July 21, 1987Assignee: Gilbert Engineering Company, Inc.Inventor: Robert D.
