Abstract: An original photographic image (5) is interrupted by a controlled shutter (10) and simultaneously scanned by a light collector (21) over a planar reference frame by relative movement between the image and the collector (21) along a series of linear side-by-side scanning paths. A light emitter (22) which emits light corresponding to that collected scans a similar planar frame of unexposed film (6) by relative movement between the film and the emitter along a series of linear side-by-side scanning paths. A computer (8) controls the scanning operations and the shutter (10) to cause the image reproduced on the film by exposure to the light emitter to differ to that of the original image.
